Funeral services for Joseph McGee, Jr. will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, March 17, 2018, at the Church Point Pentecostal Church in Church Point, LA. (800 S. Main Street, Church Point, LA 70525) Reverend Rick Pavlu will conduct the service. Burial will be held in the Latanache Baptist Church Cemetery in Batchelor, LA. (11520 LA 417, Batchelor, LA, 70715)
Mr. McGee, age 89, a resident of Opelousas, LA, passed away on Tuesday, March 13, 2018 at Lafayette General Medical Center.
Joseph proudly served his country in the United States Marine Corp. He retired after 41 years with South Central Bell. He loved working in his yard, fishing, hunting and working his wife's ceramic shop. Joseph will be greatly missed by those who knew and loved him.
Survivors include his daughters, Linda Ann McGee and Melissa Joette McGee, both of Opelousas, LA; his brothers, Percy McGee and James McGee; his sister, Edith McGee Kresge and his grandson, Blair Darsey Miller.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 65 years, Neva Carroll McGee; his parents, Joseph and Nettie Spears McGee; his sisters, Edna McGee Reed and Bea Nall and his brother, Bill McGee.
Visitation will be held in the LaFond-Ardoin Funeral Home Parlor of Opelousas on Friday, March 16, 2018, from 3:00 PM to 8:00 PM. On Saturday, March 17, 2018 visitation will continue at the Church Point Pentecostal Church from 9:00 AM until service time at 11:00 AM.
