Opelousas - A Mass of Christian Burial will be held for David Lear Batton on Thursday, August 23, 2018 at 2:00 PM at St. Landry Catholic Church. Reverend Michael DeBlanc will celebrate the Mass. Rite of Committal will be held in Bellevue Memorial Park Cemetery. Giftbearers will be Rebecca, Evelyn Rose and Lionel Christofferson. Reader will be Verna Melancon. Singer will be Breana Olivier.
Mr. Batton, age 59, a resident of Krotz Springs, LA, passed away on Tuesday, August 21, 2018, at Opelousas General Health System.
David loved being outdoors camping, hunting and fishing. He loved cooking and spending time with family and friends. David always had a smile on his face. In true Batton fashion, he loved pets. David will be missed dearly by all who knew and loved him.
Survivors include his wife of 33 years, Rosemary Dupre' Batton; his son, Ryan Batton and fiancé, Breana; his daughter, Olivia Batton Hebert and husband, Jordan; his brothers, Donald Batton and Robert "Bob" Batton, Jr.; his sisters, Susie Batton Carriere and Janice Batton; and his grandson, Thomas Olivier.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Evelyn Batton.
Visitation will be held at the LaFond-Ardoin Funeral Home of Opelousas on Wednesday, August 22, 2018 from 3:00 PM until 9:00 PM and will reopen at 9:00 AM on Thursday, August 23, 2018. A rosary will be prayed at 7:00 PM on Wednesday by Reverend Michael DeBlanc.
Pallbearers will be Ryan Batton, Jordan Hebert, Shaun Dupre', Roger Lee Dupre', John Carriere and Jacob Dupre'. Honorary pallbearers will be Peter Batton and Dalton Joubert.

I have known David for many years! He always had that Great Smile no matter what was going on in his life. We enjoyed hunting , camping, and cooking by the Camp Fire and sharing stories. I will greatly miss him. He was truly true to himself. What a great loss.!
