James Robert Evans, Jr.  I am a Veteran.
August 4, 1918 - January 29, 2010

Krotz Springs- A Mass of Christian Burial will be held for Mr. James R. “Bobby” Evans, 91, on Monday, February 1, 2010, at 11:00 A.M., at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church in Krotz Springs, followed by interment in the church cemetery. The Rev. Mark P. Ledoux will conduct the services.

Mr. Evans, a lifelong resident of Krotz Springs, passed away at his residence on Friday, surrounded by his immediate family.

Mr. Evans was veteran of World War II. He served as a member of the 2829th Combat Engineer Battalion in the Normandy, Northern France, Rhineland, and Central European Theaters. After returning from the war, he served as a clerk for the US Postal Service and as a self-employed electrician until his retirement.

He is survived by his wife of fifty-seven years, Norma J. “Jo” Evans and his brother, Charles Evans and his wife Matsy of Bossier City. His children: Cindy Ellis, James R. Evans III and his wife Debra, Nyssa Godwin and her husband Eddie, Sabrina Ardoin and her husband Keith, and Danica Evans all of Krotz Springs. His grandchildren: Cheree Gray, Christa Conner, Michelle Ellis, Lacey Simmons, Robert Evans, Blythe Brown, Christian Godwin, Brandon Ardoin, Holly Ardoin, and great-grandchilidren: Marissa, Olivia, Jillian, Aria, and Carson, as well as his step-grandchildren: Andy, Chad, Kathryn, Krystal and his step great-grandchildren Jackson, Caroline, Shelby, Owen, Dawson, Luke, Mallory, Jayce, Anthony, Colt, and Harley. He is also survived by many special nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. J.R. Evans Sr., his brothers, Ben Evans and Harold Evans. His sisters, Ludie E. Solar and Angelina E. Lemoine, his daughter-in-law, Madalene J. Evans and a granddaughter, Miranda K. Evans.

Visiting hours will be observed in the Lafond-Ardoin Funeral Home in Krotz Springs on Sunday, January 31, 2010 from 10 A.M. to 10 P.M. and will reopen Monday from 7 A.M. until time of services. A rosary will be recited at 7 P.M. on Sunday.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made in his name to St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church or St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital.
