Opelousas – A Mass of Christian Burial for Lloyd Paul Miller, age 81, will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, March 5, 2010, in the Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Church. Interment will follow in the St. Andrew Catholic Church Cemetery in Plaisance, La.

Mr. Miller, who was a resident of Lawtell, died at 12:55 p.m. on Wednesday, March 3, 2010 at the Heritage Manor Nursing Home in Opelousas, La.

Lloyd was a retired mechanic of Hollier Implement and also was a deputy and jailer for former Sheriff Howard Zerangue.

Survivors include his sons, Lloyd Miller, Jr. and wife, Roma, of Port Barre, La.; Rodney Miller of Opelousas, La.; Darrell Miller and wife, Tammy, of Leonville, La.; his daughters, Ella Mae Soileau and husband, Bob, of Ville Platte, La.; Earline Miller of Lafayette, La.; Annie Lee Cormier and husband, Gary of Plaisance, La.; his brothers, George Miller of Opelousas, La.; Roosevelt Miller of Kinder, La.; Francis (Tib) Miller of Prairie Ronde, La.; his sisters, Irene Doucet of Lawtell, La.; Anna Fontenot of Lawtell, La. and LeAnna Kidder of Prairie Ronde, La. He is also survived by 18 grandchildren, 31 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Hilda Miller; his daughter, Geraldine Soileau; his brothers, Joe Miller and Horace Miller and his parents, John Miller, Jr. and Ella Marie Savoy Miller.

Visiting hours will be held in the LaFond-Ardoin Funeral Home of Opelousas on Thursday, March 4, 2010 from 3:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. and will re-open at 8:00 a.m. on Friday, March 5, 2010, until time of service. A rosary will be recited at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday.
