Adelaide Dupre, age, 86, a beloved school teacher and cherished member of her community, passed away peacefully at her residence on April 26, 2026. She was born on February 18, 1940, in Ville Platte. She dedicated much of her life to educating and nurturing young minds, leaving a lasting impression on countless students over the years.
A Memorial Mass for Adelaide Dupre will be held at 3:30 p.m. on Friday, May 1, 2026, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Ville Platte. Father Mark Ledoux will conduct the Mass and the inurnment will follow at the church cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Jules LeBas and Paul LeBas.
Adelaide was a woman whose warmth and devotion extended far beyond the classroom. She was deeply committed to her family, finding joy and fulfillment in their company. Those who knew her well remember her caring nature, always attentive and supportive to both family and friends. Her presence was a constant source of comfort and strength.
She found pleasure in a variety of interests and hobbies that reflected her vibrant spirit. Adelaide enjoyed playing Bourre', an activity she often shared with loved ones. Her fondness for beach vacations allowed her to unwind and connect with nature. Her loyalty to LSU’s athletic teams was evident; she eagerly attended football, baseball, and basketball games, cheering with enthusiasm. Music also played an important role in her life, especially Zydeco.
Adelaide is survived by her daughter, Kelly Dupre; her brothers, Bernard LeBas and his wife Charlotte, and Peter LeBas and his wife Rachel; her half-brother, Howard Richard, and his wife Sharon; as well as her grand dog, Fa-thra. She is further survived by numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews who will carry with them the memories of her love and guidance.
Her life was preceded in death by her parents, Howard and Hazel Richard, and Harvey and Myrtle LeBas; her stepmother, Cecil Richard; her brothers Cecil LeBas and his wife Janet, Frankie LeBas and his wife Joan, and Carlyle “Lossie” LeBas and his wife Wylla; and her sisters Jackie LeBas and Andrée LeBas.
Adelaide Dupre’s life was marked by dedication, affection, and a joyous spirit. She will be remembered fondly and missed deeply by all who were fortunate to know her.
