Aldon Richard

Opelousas - A Mass of Christian Burial will be held for Aldon "Danny" Joseph Richard on Wednesday, October 31, 2018, at 2:00 PM at Our Lady Queen of Angels Catholic Church. Monsignor Keith J. DeRouen will officiate the Mass. Rite of Committal will follow at Bellevue Memorial Park Cemetery.

Mr. Richard, age 93, a resident of Opelousas, LA, passed away on Saturday, October 27, 2018 at Our Lady of Prompt Succor Nursing Home.

Danny served his country proudly in the United States Navy during WWII. He was a member of the American Legion Post 209 in Washington, LA, Woodman of the World, the Cattleman's Association and a former member of the St. Landry Parish Sheriff's Posse.

Mr. Richard was the owner of Danny Richard Mobile Homes in Opelousas from 1969 to 1985 until his retirement and was a member of the Louisiana Mobile Home Association. He was a parishioner and member of Our Lady Queen of Angels Catholic Church where he served as a Eucharistic Minister. He was also a member of the Knights of Columbus where he attained the rank of Third and Fourth Degree Knight.

He is survived by his son, Danny Joseph Richard and wife, Darla K. Richard; his daughters, Jonalyn R. Soileau and husband, Bobby J. Soileau; Jackie R. Conques and Dana R. Reed and husband, Jeff Reed and his sisters, Earline Rose and Cathrine Williford. He is also survived by 12 grandchildren, Michael Brent Soileau and wife, Lisa, Jared Scott Soileau and wife, Laura, Julie Conques and Kevin Romero, Nicole Noel, Lance Conques, Natalie Conques, Brock Conques, Heidi Reed, Rusty Reed and wife, Nikki, Scotty Reed, Daniel Richard and Dawson Richard. He is also survived by 16 great-grandchildren, Glenn Michael Soileau, Ann-Elise Soileau, Levi James Soileau, Simone Romero, Cameron Romero, Scout Romero, Hunter Noel, Kane Arceneaux, Isaac Gauthier, Baylor Conques, Coy Clavelle, Cole Clavelle, Colin Clavelle, Claire Clavelle, Taylor Reed, and Winter Beth Reed.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Leonce and Dulah Richard; his first wife, Anna Richard and his second wife, Velma Richard; his brother, Erman Richard and his nephew, Keith Richard.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, October 30, 2018, from 2:00 PM to 9:00 PM and will reopen on Wednesday, October 31, 2018, at 8:00 AM until time of service. A Rosary will be prayed on Tuesday evening at 6:30 PM by Rev. Austin Leger.

Pallbearers will be Jared Scott Soileau, Lance Conques, Brock Conques, Rusty Reed, Scotty Reed, Daniel Richard, Dawson Richard and Hunter Noel. Honorary pallbearer will be Michael Brent Soileau.

The family would like to thank all the staff at Lafayette General Medical Center, Opelousas General Health System and Our Lady of Prompt Succor Nursing Home. Most of all, the family would like to send a special thank you to Juanita Sonnier for the wonderful love and care that she provided.

The family requests donations be made to the Alzheimer's Association and the American Cancer Society in Mr. Danny's name.

Danny loved his family with all his heart and loved animals of all kind. He will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.
