Ted was a board member of the Bayou Plaquemine Gravity Drainage District No. 12. Ted enjoyed retirement for the past two years after working for the Louisiana Department of Transportation & Development for forty-nine years. His retirement gift to himself was his red tractor that he good naturedly named “Mr. Bojangles.” He spent his days in his garden growing the biggest and most beautiful vegetables. Having his son, Dane, work with him in this garden brought him so much happiness.

Spending time with his wife, Henrietta, and especially his three granddaughters, Macey, Katherine, and Allie were highlights of his days. Macey recently married her husband and Mr. Ted loved Jacob just like a grandson and was so happy to have just celebrated their wedding a few short weeks ago. He also always made sure to have fresh coffee in the mornings for his daughter-in-law, Danielle.

Ted always had the best snacks and made sure that all the people around him were fed. Sharing his garden harvest with friends and family brought him so much joy. He often hosted breakfast club in the early mornings for his friends, Joey Faul and John Stansbury. Visiting and frequent phone calls with his friend Michael “Boo” Bourgeois were part of his weekly routine.

He attended weekly adoration and had a deep devotion to the rosary. His incredible sense of humor, quick wit, and ability to make everyone around him laugh will be immensely missed.

Left to honor Ted’s memory are his wife, Henrietta Bellard Marcantel of Lawtell, LA; his son, Dane Mathew Marcantel and his wife, Danielle Bihm Marcantel of Lawtell, LA; his granddaughters, Macey Bellard and her husband, Jacob Bellard of Prairie Ronde, LA; Katherine Marcantel and Allie Marcantel; his sisters, Jane Miller of Lawtell, LA; Mona Marcantel and her partner, Kayron Lalonde of Kentucky; and Cynthia Miller and her husband, Dale Miller of Lawtell, LA.

He was preceded in death by his father, Allen Marcantel, and his mother, Earline Darbonne Marcantel of Lawtell, LA; and his brother-in-law, Daryl Miller of Lawtell, LA.
