Andrew Dale St. Cyr, a beloved husband, father, grandfather and devoted member of his community, passed away peacefully at his residence in Garland, Louisiana, on December 22, 2025, at the age of 88. He was born on January 25, 1937, in Opelousas, Louisiana. Dale lived a life rich with family, friends, and passion.
A Mass of Christian Burial for Andrew Dale St. Cyr will be held on Friday, December 26, 2025, at 11:30 a.m. at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Washington, Louisiana. Father Corey Campeaux will celebrate the Mass. Rite of Committal and burial will be held at Cedar Hill Cemetery.
Visitation will begin at 8:30 a.m. until 10:30 a.m. in the Skip Montet Memorial Chapel at Lafond-Ardoin Funeral Home on Friday, December 26, 2025. A Eulogy will be given at 10:15 a.m. and a Rosary will be prayed at 10:30 a.m.
Pallbearers will be Andrew St. Cyr, Ben St. Cyr, Criston St. Cyr, Seth WeHunt, John WeHunt and Brad St. Cyr. Honorary pallbearers will be Dane St. Cyr and Colin Murphy.
Dale attended airline school in Hartford, Connecticut in 1956. He dedicated 40 years as an agent and supervisor for United Airlines in D.C., Atlanta, New Orleans, Baltimore and Houston. This allowed him and his family to see the world which he adored. He was also a proud member of the Louisiana National Guard from 1954 to 1962, reflecting his dedication to serving his country. He spent his retirement years as a hay farmer on the property in Garland along the banks of Bayou Boeuf.
Dale’s personality shone brightly through the roles he cherished most. He was a wonderful husband to his beloved wife, Catherine Lafleur St. Cyr, and a loving father to their children, his sons, Dane Alexander St. Cyr (Nancy) and Brad St. Cyr, along with his daughters, Nancy Elaine WeHunt (John), Beth Marie Helm (Roger), and Aimee Lafleur St. Cyr (Colin Murphy). He is also survived by his sister, Phern Elizabeth Stelly Stagg, and his sister-in-law, Eloise St. Cyr; his grandchildren, Andrew St. Cyr, Benjamin St. Cyr, Criston St. Cyr, Jourdain St. John WeHunt, Avery LaFleur WeHunt, Seth Alexander WeHunt, Fleur Miriam Noelle Murphy, Ruark Catherine Isla Murphy, and Kaitlynn Marie Helm. He enjoyed many cherished moments with them, creating lasting memories that will be fondly remembered by all.
Dale loved the great outdoors, spending time hunting and fishing on the bayous of Louisiana, the eastern shore of Maryland, and in south Texas. Music and dance were also a big part of his life, with favorites such as Hank Williams, jitterbug and square dancing in the campgrounds of the Smokies. Throughout his lifetime, Dale demonstrated a commitment to his community. He was a proud member of the American Legion Post 209 - Jasper Neyland in Washington, Louisiana, and a longtime parishioner and choir member of Immaculate Conception Church, where he developed strong ties with fellow members.
Dale was involved in various community initiatives, serving on the Prairie Ronde Water Board for 17 years and contributing to the District 3 Road Commission. His leadership was further exemplified during his time as president of the Beggs Volunteer Fire Department. Most importantly, Andrew held his children’s education dear, enthusiastically attending all their PTA meetings, which reflects his unwavering support and pride in their achievements.
He is preceded in death by his father, Josie St. Cyr; his mother, Elsie Martin Stelly; his stepfather, Saul Stelly; his daughter-in-law, Terri St. Cyr; his brother, James Oakley St. Cyr; his nephew, Barry St. Cyr; his brother-in-law, Jimmy Stagg; and his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Alexander LaFleur and Lima-Rose Brignac LaFleur.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to Dale’s caretaker, Ann Nimer Batiste for the amazing care she provided. She was such a blessing and now has become part of the family.
Andrew Dale St. Cyr's legacy lives on through the many lives he touched, his warm spirit, and his unwavering love for those around him. He will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew him.
