It is with heavy hearts and sadness the family announces the passing of Anthony (Tony) Thibodeaux, 72, of Opelousas on May 26, 2026, surrounded by his loving and devoted family.

Tony worked as an auto mechanic at Darold Thibodeaux's Auto Repair for 49 years until his retirement in 2022. He loved working with his hands and often spoke of how he sorely missed that, both at the shop and at home. He loved how he and Wade spent their weekends working on projects together and loved spending time with Yvonne and the kids. His life was consumed with his work, his family and his friends. He also generously offered wise counsel to many people over the years who came to him searching for a way forward. Tony wanted others to find the freedom he found and worked tirelessly toward that goal. His unconditional support helped countless people learn how to work toward a more manageable life, But by far the lights of his life were his children and grandchildren. Jackie was his rock. his friend and the love of his life. He often joked so much about how "I love my wife," that friends had a shirt made with that statement printed on it for him. He got a big kick out of that and proudly showed it off to the family, who regularly gathered in his home to spend time with him and his family. So much transpired in that living room that it can't be told here. Suffice to say, everyone left there with more than we arrived with. He found humor in the direst of circumstances. He loved to laugh and we loved laughing with him. Tony will be sorely missed but never forgotten. His Christian faith was of utmost importance to him, and he projected a powerful Christian witness throughout his journey. He became a beacon of strength and light for all to see. Even when his situation became dire, his faith remained intact.

Tony is survived by his loving wife of 51 years, Jackie Andrepont Thibodeaux; his daughter, Yvonne Marks and her husband Edward of Opelousas; his son, Wade Thibodeaux and his wife, Courtney Thibodeaux of Opelousas; his grandchildren, Hayden Marks, Brooks Marks, Kinsey Marks and Logan Thibodeaux; his five brothers, Harran Thibodeaux and his wife, Vera, James Thibodeaux and his wife, Arlene and Joseph Thibodeaux, all of Opelousas and Robert Thibodeaux and his wife, Helen of Lafayette and Davis Thibodeaux of Center, MS; his six sisters, LeeAnna Dalton of Houston, TX, Dorothy Leblanc and her husband, Max of Sulphur, Anna Jane Janice and her husband, Hammie of Port Barre, LA, Rose Thibodeaux Duplechain and her husband, Donald Bergeron of Duson, LA, Della Thibodeaux of Northlake, TX and Priscilla Thibodeaux of Elton, LA.; his sisters-in-law, Enola Thibodeaux, Ethel Thibodeaux and Janet Miller of Opelousas; his brother-in-law, Dean Andrepont of Scott; his mother-in-law, Juanita Andrepont of Opelousas; along with numerous nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
