Arthur "Artie" Sydney Surcouf III, born on July 9, 1955, in New Orleans, Louisiana, passed away on October 31, 2025, in Opelousas, Louisiana.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, November 6, 2025, in the Skip Montet Memorial Chapel at Lafond-Ardoin Funeral Home in Opelousas from 11:00 a.m. until 2:30 p.m. A Rosary will follow be recited at 2:30 p.m. in the Skip Montet Memorial Chapel at Lafond-Ardoin Funeral Home with a Memorial Service following at 3:00 p.m. Deacon Bill Pollingue will recite the rosary and officiate the service.
He is remembered for his unwavering dedication to his career in safety, health and environment for industrial plants, a role that allowed him to travel extensively and live in various countries throughout his professional journey. Artie's commitment to his job was profound; he found great fulfillment in helping people and ensuring their safety.
Beyond his professional achievements, Artie was a man of simple pleasures. He had a passion for cooking, which became a beloved way for him to express his creativity and connect with those around him. Following his retirement, Artie and Alfiya, embraced a quieter lifestyle, filled with the joys of everyday life.
Artie was also a proud veteran of the Army, having served his country with honor. His life was marked by a sense of duty, both in his military service and in his career.
He is survived by his wife of 20 years, Alfiya Surcouf; his son, Bryan Surcouf; his daughter, Shelli Surcouf; his grandchildren, Kristen Surcouf-Kurtz, Phoebe Kurtz and Ella Kurtz; and a host of beloved nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Arthur Sydney Surcouf II and Sybil Fox Surcouf; and his sisters, Susie Hernandez and Judy Burgess.
Arthur Sydney Surcouf III leaves behind a legacy of dedication, kindness, and a love for life that touched the hearts of many. He will be dearly missed by all who knew him.
