Atlay "Jo Jo" Stelly

Leonville - A Mass of Christian Burial will be held for Atlay “Jo Jo” Joseph Stelly on Saturday, November 12, 2022, at 11:00 a.m. in the St. Leo the Great Catholic Church in Leonville, La.  Rite of Committal will follow in the church cemetery.  Reverend Darren Eldridge will conduct the Mass.

It is with deep sorrow we regretfully announce the passing of Atlay “Jo Jo” Joseph Stelly, age, 72, on Tuesday, November 8, 2022.

Jo Jo worked as a custodian for the St. Landry Parish School system for many years.  He enjoyed being outdoors, riding his tractor and taking care of his vegetable garden.  He loved being on the water fishing and being in the woods hunting.  He mostly enjoyed cooking a gravy with his freshly caught choupique for his family and friends.  Jo Jo will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.

Survivors include his son, Blaine Stelly and wife, Sara; his daughters, Elaine Deville and husband, Timothy, and Tammy Miller and companion, Ronnie; his brother, J.B. Stelly and wife, Mary Ann and his sisters, Eula Mae Pitre and husband, T-Boy, Irene Domec and husband, Ernest, Rita Pitre and husband, Kenneth; and Mr. Atlay’s companion, Betty Hollier.  He is also survived by 3 grandchildren, Logan Deville, Kyle Deville and Cameron Stelly.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Cecile “Te-Te” Stelly; his parents, Joseph Ataly Stelly and Marie Esther Stelly and his sister, Ellen Richard.

Visiting hours will be observed in the Skip Montet Chapel at Lafond-Ardoin Funeral Home of Opelousas, beginning on Friday, November 11, 2022, from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and reopen at 8:00 a.m. on Saturday, November 12, 2022.  A rosary will be prayed at 6:00 p.m. Friday evening.

Pallbearers will be Blaine Stelly, Logan Deville, Kyle Deville, Cameron Stelly, Tim Deville, Daniel Carrier and Jason Domec.  Honorary pallbearers will be J.B. Stelly and Ronnie Rogers.
