Austin "Neg" Lalonde, Jr.

Austin "Neg" Lalonde, Jr., age 94, passed away peacefully on December 20, 2023, at J. Michael Morrow Nursing Home surrounded by his loving family.

In his professional life, Austin found his calling in the oil field. With dedication and hard work, he honed his skills over the years, becoming a respected member of the industry. Austin's commitment to his work was exemplified through his relentless efforts to provide for his family and ensure their well-being. Outside of work, Austin's passion for hunting and fishing became lifelong pursuits that brought him immense joy and fulfillment. He also loved cooking cajun food for his family. Although he wasn't known for baking, he loved it when his granddaughter, Kylie would bake him his favorite dessert, coconut cake.

Aside from his career achievements, Austin also cherished his role as a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and friend. His memory will forever be cherished by those who survive him.

He is survived by his sons, Donald Joe Lalonde and his wife, Brenda of Port Barre and Randy LaLonde and his wife, Ramona of Port Barre; his daughter, Sherylyn Gibson and her husband, John of Port Barre; his sisters, Betty Andrus, Emma Lee Stelly, and Virgie Aden; his grandchildren, Don Lalonde, Jr., Roland Gobert, Leslie Lalonde, Christopher Gobert, Kylie Sibley, Johnny Stelly, Anthony Gobert, Danielle Robin, Andrew Lalonde, Jacob Lalonde, and Paige Boudreaux; his great-grandchildren, Don Lalonde III, Kristin Shortnacy, Kaitlyn Shortnacy, Jacob Ryan Lalonde, Jr., Jaycie Jean Lalonde, Rosabelle Lalonde, Liam Lalonde, Ada Kay Lalonde, Luke Lalonde, Leah Lalonde, Brayden Perdue, Brenden Perdue, Carson Robin, Grayson Robin, Anna Sibley, Eli Sibley, Ethan Stelly, Aubrie Stelly, Chelsey Gobert, Hannah Gobert, Tori Gobert, Kinnidi Jarrell and Treyson Willet.

Austin is preceded in death by his wife, Rosa Belle Savoie Lalonde; his parents, Austin Lalonde, Sr. and Rose Guidroz Lalonde; daughters, Louella Gobert and Anna Lalonde; his sons, Charles Lalonde and Bobby Lalonde; his sisters, Lorita Cortez, Helen Marks and Jeannie Prudhomme; his brothers, Raymond Lalonde, Edmond Lalonde, Wilbert Lalonde and Danny Lalonde; his great-grandchild, Austin Stelly; and his long-time companion, Manola Stoute.

A visitation will take place on Wednesday, December 27, 2023, at LaFond-Ardoin Funeral Home from 9:00 AM and until 12:30 PM, when a Rosary will be recited by Mike and Betty Wheaton. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Port Barre at 2:00 PM. Reverend Father Clint Trahan will celebrate the Mass. The interment will follow in the church cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Ethan Stelly, Brayden Perdue, Brenden Perdue, Don Lalonde III, Don Lalonde, Jr., Roland Gobert, Christopher Gobert, Johnny Stelly, Andrew Lalonde and Jacob Lalonde.

During the Mass, the Alter Servers will be Anna Sibley, Luke LaLonde and Jacob LaLonde, Jr. The Readers will be Brenda Lalonde, Ramona LaLonde and Trina Stelly. The Gift Bearers will be Karen Hoffpauir, Jaycie Jean Lalonde, Carson Robin, Eli Sibley and Rosabelle Lalonde.

The LaLonde family would like to extend a sincere thank you to J. Michael Morrow Nursing Home and their amazing staff for the love and care that was shown to Mr. Austin.

Austin Lalonde, Jr.'s kind spirit, dedication to his work, and love for his family and friends will forever be cherished in the hearts of those who had the pleasure of knowing him. As we mourn his passing, let us also remember the joy he brought to our lives and the lasting impact he made on the community around him.

May Austin Lalonde, Jr. rest in eternal peace, knowing that he has left behind a legacy that will endure for generations to come.
