Barbara will be remembered not only for her kind and loving nature but also for the impact she had on those around her.   Barbara's warmth extended beyond her family as she was actively involved in various community groups and organizations. She found joy in being an avid reader and loved cooking and baking for family gatherings. Barbara's dedication to her family was evident through her involvement in her children's classrooms as a "room mother" and as a substitute teacher at Belmont Academy. Her faith was central to her life as she participated in a local rosary group, belonged to the Ladies Altar Society, and was a committed parishioner at Our Lady Queen of Angels Catholic Church. Barbara also was a part of a bible study group, book club group, Pokeno group, and she enjoyed many years of square dancing.

She is survived by her husband of 67 years, Joseph "Joe" Hidalgo, Sr.; her sons, Joseph "Jay" Hidalgo, Jr. and wife, Pam of Plano, TX; Christopher "Chris" Hidalgo and wife, Cindy of Chicago, IL; and P. Gregory “Greg” Hidalgo of Carrollton, TX; and her daughters, Mary Denise Hidalgo Greene and husband, Tommy of Baton Rouge, LA; and Cheryl Lynn Hidalgo and husband, Anthony Palermo of Baton Rouge, LA.  She is also survived by her grandchildren, Lauren Hidalgo, Caroline Hidalgo, Carley Hidalgo Bourgeois and husband, Hans; Aimee Greene Howard and husband, Graham; Geoffrey Greene; Nicholas Greene and wife, Brooke; Katelyn Hidalgo Tucker and husband, James; and Michael Hidalgo.  She is also survived by her great-grandchildren, Cohen Howard, Abigail Howard, Alexandra Greene and Charlotte Tucker; and her Godchildren, Suzenne Lavergne and Billy Bourdier.

She was preceded in death by her parents, William George Bourdier and Beatrice Fontenot Bourdier; and her brothers, Gene Bourdier and Willaim “Bill” Bourdier.

Barbara will forever remain in the hearts of those who had the privilege of knowing her gentle spirit and unwavering love. May she rest in peace knowing that she has left an indelible mark on all who crossed her path.
