Bernice L. Dugas

Bernice L. Dugas, a resident of Opelousas, La., passed away on June 13, 2025, at the age of 91. She was born on April 7, 1934, in Arnaudville, Louisiana, Bernice will be remembered for her gentle spirit, unwavering love for her family, and her passion for life.

Funeral services for Bernice Dugas will be held on Monday, June 16, 2025, at 3:00pm in the Skip Montet Memorial Chapel at Lafond-Ardoin Funeral Home of Opelousas with Father Darren Eldridge officiating. Burial will be held in the St. Leo the Great Catholic Church Cemetery in Leonville, La.

Pallbearers will be Kamron Nezat, James Lagrange, Charles Lagrange and Bryan Lagrange.

Visitation will be held on Monday, June 16, 2025, in the Lafond-Ardoin Funeral Home of Opelousas from 9:00am to 2:30pm. A Rosary will follow, which will be recited by her nephew, James Lagrange.

Throughout her years, Bernice demonstrated an extraordinary dedication to her loved ones. She loved her family dearly, providing unwavering support and kindness.

In addition to her family ties, Bernice found joy in the simple pleasures of everyday life. She was an accomplished cook and baker. She took immense pride in her outdoor spaces. She enjoyed cutting the grass or tending to her gardens. Her love for nature was evident in the beauty that surrounded her home.

Bernice is survived by her daughter, Karen Johnson; her nephew, James Lagrange and his wife, Bonnie; and her grandchildren, Taylor Nezat and Kamron Nezat.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Leonice and Leontine Arnaud Lagrange; her husband, Leo Dugas; her son, Anthony "Tony" Scott Dugas; her brothers, Leon Lagrange, Rodney Lagrange, Moise Lagrange, and Roy Lagrange; as well as her nephew, Mason Lagrange and niece, Delores Dore.

As we remember Bernice L. Dugas, we celebrate a life well-lived, marked by love for family, passion for cooking and gardening, and an enduring spirit that touched everyone, fortunate enough to know her. She will be greatly missed but will continue to inspire those she leaves behind.
