Bessie Leger

A Mass of Christian Burial for Bessie Ledoux Leger, who died at 4:00 a.m. Thursday, February 24, 2022, at home, will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, March 1, 2022, at Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Church in Opelousas. The Reverend Monsignor, Father Jeff DeBlanc will celebrate the Mass. Rite of committal & burial will follow in Bellevue Memorial Park in Opelousas, LA.

Bessie Ledoux Leger and Joseph Nolton Leger were happily married for over 57 years. She loved to cook, bake and crochet. Friends and church members esteemed her Carrot Cake and Fig Cake as “something special.” She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother & will be deeply missed by friends & family.

She is survived by her daughter Karen Clark (JN) of Lafayette, Dennis Leger (Sue) of Baton Rouge, and David Leger (Jessica) of Houston, TX. She is also survived by her grandchildren Damian Doucet (Christi), Matthew Doucet (Kaylin), Chad Leger, Lance Leger, Chandler Leger, Emma Leger, and Lane Leger, and great grandchildren Ellie Mae Doucet, Maddie Marie Doucet, Krislyn Barzare, Reagan Doucet, and Hudson Doucet.

She was preceded in death by her husband Joseph Nolton Leger, her parents Adolphe Ledoux and Ida Fontenot Ledoux, son Randall Keith Leger, sister Geraldine Darbonne, brother Joseph Freeman Ledoux, and brother Leander Ledoux.

Ms. Leger's pallbearers will be Tony Darbonne, Mike Decou, Damian Doucet, Chandler Leger, Matthew Doucet and Lane Leger.

Visitation will be held at LaFond-Ardoin Funeral Home of Opelousas on Monday, February 28, 2022 from 4:00–8:00 p.m. A Rosary will be prayed at 7:00 p.m. on Monday evening. Visitation will continue Tuesday, March 1, 2022, at 8:00 a.m., followed by a funeral procession with a funeral service Mass at 10:00 at Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Church in Opelousas, LA.
