Bobby Joe Soileau, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend, passed away on Thursday, May 22, 2025, at Our Lady of Prompt Succor Nursing Home in Opelousas, Louisiana. He was born on August 5, 1942, in Ville Platte, Louisiana, Bobby lived a life rich with love, friendships, and an unwavering commitment to helping others.
A Mass of Christian Burial for Bobby Soileau will be held on Saturday, May 24, 2025, at 12:00 p.m. at Our Lady Queen of Angels Catholic Church in Opelousas, Louisiana. The Very Reverend Monsignor Keith J. DeRouen will celebrate the Mass. Rite of Committal and burial will follow at Bellevue Memorial Park.
Visitation for Bobby will be held in the Our Lady Queen of Angels Catholic Church in Opelousas from 11:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. A rosary service will be recited by Deacon Collins at 11:15 a.m.
The pallbearers will be Matt D’avy, David Soileau, Landon Soileau, Bryce Nall, Brent Jagneaux and Don Paul Soileau. The honorary pallbearers will be Donnie Perron, Ronald Mistrot and Schad Fontenot.
Throughout his career, Bobby dedicated himself to the life of a truck driver. Bobby’s greatest joys were found in the comforts of home and the company of his loved ones. He possessed a remarkable talent for cooking, often filling his kitchen with delightful aromas that drew family and friends together. He also enjoyed playing poker with his friends.
Bobby is survived by his wife of 59 years, Betty Mistrot Soileau, of Opelousas, Louisiana; his son, David Soileau, of Opelousas; and his daughter, Charisse Soileau (Matt D’avy), of Broussard, Louisiana. Bobby took immense pride in being a grandfather to his grandchildren, Dylan LeBlanc, Landon Soileau, and Bryce Nall. He is also survived by his great-grandson, Elliot LeBlanc. Additionally, Bobby is remembered fondly by his sisters-in-law, Shirley Soileau and Nell Fontenot and her husband, Schad, and his Godchild, Don Paul Soileau.
Bobby was preceded in death by his parents, Jesse and Vivian Pitre Soileau; his brother, Jesse Dean Soileau; his sister, Sylvia Soileau Richard; and his Godchild, Brent Soileau. The love and legacy of Bobby Joe Soileau will eternally resonate in the hearts of those he touched, and he will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
