Brian Tilden LaHaye, age 63, passed away peacefully on January 11, 2024 surrounded by his family at his home in Beggs, LA. Brian was born on May 2, 1960, in Mamou, LA. He earned degrees from LSU in 1985 (history) and in 1987 (finance) and then began a long career in accounting management in the hospital setting. In his free time, Brian enjoyed reading, camping, hunting, fishing, LSU football, and refurbishing antique Coleman lanterns. Brian’s kind spirit and love for his family and friends will forever be cherished.

Brian is survived by his spouse Charlotte Ruffino LaHaye; son Reed LaHaye of Birmingham, AL; daughter Camille LaHaye of Lafayette, LA; brother Mark LaHaye of Mamou, brothers Tim LaHaye (Susana, niece Elizabeth Danielle LaHaye) and Matt LaHaye of Cumming, GA; sister Anne LaHaye (Caitlin Skelton) of Baton Rouge, LA; step-sons Pierce Bihm, Jacob Bihm (Mamie, step-granddaughter Parker Bihm and step-grandson Charlie Bihm) and step-daughter Elizabeth “Libby” Begnaud (Adam) of Lafayette, his mother-in-law, Ann Ruffino of Beggs, LA and many cousins and close friends.

Brian is preceded in death by his parents, Elmer and Patricia LaHaye and his sister Elizabeth Camille LaHaye of Mamou, maternal grandparents Raoul and Olivia Meche of Krotz Springs, LA, paternal grandparents Yves and Camillia LaHaye of Mamou, his father-in-law Charles Ruffino of Beggs, LA, and many aunts and uncles.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, January 14, 2024 at Lafond-Ardoin Funeral Home in Opelousas from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM. A rosary will be recited at 6:00 PM, led by Deacon Dwayne Joubert. Visitation will resume Monday morning at 9:00 AM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Washington, LA on  at 2:00 PM. Internment will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery.

Brian’s remains will be carried into Mass by his wife Charlotte and his children, Reed and Camille, and at the cemetery by his stepchildren Pierce, Jacob, and Libby. Honorary pallbearers include lifelong friends Warren and Stuart Fontenot.

The LaHaye family would like to extend sincere thanks to the staff members of Our Lady of Lourdes Regional Medical Center, the Moncus Cancer Center, and Louisiana Hospice and Palliative Center for the love and care that was shown to Brian. In lieu of flowers, charitable donations can be made in Brian’s memory to the Cholangiocarcinoma Foundation or Our Lady of Lourdes Foundation.
