Daniel Firmin, age 88, passed away on April 24, 2026, at the Camelot Nursing Home in Broussard, Louisiana. Born in Bunkie, Louisiana, Daniel lived a life marked by dedication, passion, and a deep connection to both his loved ones and his interests.
Funeral services in honor of Daniel’s life will be held on Wednesday, April 29, 2026, in the Skip Montet Memorial Chapel at Lafond-Ardoin Funeral Home in Opelousas. Reverend Bryan Johnson will conduct the service. Following the service, burial will be held at Bellevue Memorial Park in Opelousas, LA.
Pallbearers will be Greg Firmin, Daniel Firmin, Ben Firmin and Nathan Firmin.
Visitation will be held for Daniel on Wednesday, April 29, 2026, from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. at Lafond-Ardoin Funeral Home in Opelousas, LA.
Mr. Firmin devoted many years to his career as a Petroleum Consultant, where his expertise and commitment earned him the admiration of colleagues and clients alike. Beyond his professional accomplishments, he was a proud veteran of the United States Air Force, a testament to his unwavering sense of duty and patriotism.
Daniel’s life was enriched by his varied hobbies and interests. He had a profound love for westerns. He was often found immersed in western books or enjoying western shows on television. His mechanical skills extended into his personal time, as he delighted in working on engines and other mechanic hobby projects. Woodworking was another of his cherished pastimes, reflecting his craftsmanship and creativity. Among his proudest accomplishments were his enjoyment of ballroom dancing, spending time outdoors through RV camping, and the spirited tailgating experiences at University of Louisiana football games.
Daniel is survived by his son, Greg, and wife Lisa, of Maurepas; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren; as well as a host of nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his beloved wife of 54 years, Mingnon Marie Chachere Firmin; his parents, Joseph C. Firmin and Mary Elizabeth Cope Firmin; and his sisters, Anna Louise Uzee and Margaret Brandt.
Daniel Firmin’s legacy is one of steadfast commitment—to his profession, his country, and most importantly, to his family and passions. He will be remembered with great respect and affection by all who were fortunate to know him.
