Dora Moreau

Opelousas - A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, February 25, 2019 at Our Lady Queen of Angels Catholic Church. The Reverend Monsignor Keith DeRouen will officiate the Mass. Rite of Committal will follow at Bellevue Memorial Park.

Mrs. Moreau, age 80 and a resident of Opelousas, passed away on Saturday, February 23, 2019 at Louisiana Extended Care Hospital in Lafayette.

Mrs. Moreau was an amazing Cajun cook. Her recipes have been carried down for years and are even used in her family member's restaurants, specifically her daughter and son-in-law's restaurant, Vidrine's Cafe' and her grandson's restaurant, Vidrine's Steakhouse. Dora loved her family dearly, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, who she loved to spoil. She enjoyed traveling and most of all loved going on beach vacations with her daughter, Tammy, and her family. Dora will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.

She is survived by her loving husband of 40 years, Autry Gene Moreau; son, Mitchell Joubert; daughters, Tammy Joubert Vidrine and husband, Hubert Vidrine, Jr. and Missy Atkins and husband, Barry; sister, Janet Fontenot Doucet and husband, Thomas; grandchildren, Chad Vidrine, Crystal Vidrine and Shawn Joubert; great-grandchildren, Dylan Vidrine, Matthew Lagrange, Braeden Vidrine, Brooklynn Vidrine and Melissa Vidrine; and great-great-grandchild, Meredith Vidrine.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Hubert C. Fontenot and Lula F. Fontenot; and daughters, Melissa Joubert and Chanda Joubert.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, February 24, 2019 from 4:00 p.m. - 9:00 p.m. in the Skip Montet Chapel at Lafond-Ardoin Funeral Home. A Rosary will be prayed at 7:00 p.m. on Sunday evening by Deacon Jerome Collins. Visitation will continue on Monday, February 25, 2019 from 9:00 a.m. until the time of Mass at 1:00 p.m.

Pallbearers will be Hubert Vidrine, Jr., Chad Vidrine, Matthew Lagrange, Dylan Vidrine, Braeden Vidrine and Corey Molinere. Honorary Pallbearer will be her husband, Autry Gene Moreau.
