Opelousas, Louisiana - Ella Dupuis Castille, age 84, passed away peacefully on June 1, 2024, at Landmark of Acadiana in St. Martinville, La. Ella's legacy is one that will continue to shine brightly in the hearts of all who had the privilege of knowing her.
A visitation of family and friends will be held on Wednesday, June 5, 2024, from 9:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. in the Skip Montet Memorial Chapel at Lafond-Ardoin Funeral Home of Opelousas. A Rosary will be prayed at 1:00 p.m. with funeral services at 2:00 p.m. The rosary and service will be conducted by Deacon Bill Pollingue.
Ella found joy and fulfillment in the simple pleasures of life; cherishing moments spent with her family above all else. She was a longtime parishioner of Our Lady Queen of Angels Catholic Church. Ella worked as a store clerk for 50 years at Broussard's Grocery Store in Opelousas, La. She found solace in the beauty of nature and took great pleasure in tending to her yard and ensuring that her home was always a welcoming and immaculate space. Most of all she enjoyed time with her family, especially visiting with her sisters at family gatherings.
Ella leaves behind a profound legacy that will be carried on by those closest to her. She is survived by her daughters, Christine Castille Stelly and her husband, Jody Stelly of Arnaudville, La., and Angela Castille Reeves and her husband, Terry Reeves of Lafayette, La. Ella's memory will also be cherished by her sisters, Pearl Broussard and her husband, Earl and Lucy Broussard, along with brother-in-law, Rufus Breaux and her sister-in-law Delores Dupuis. Her grandchildren, Sonny McGee (Crystal McGee) of Breaux Bridge, La., Chance McGee (Hali McGee) of Youngsville, La., Douglas Perkins (Isabella Musso), Michael Signorelli, Kimberly Signorelli Petrone (Jessie Petrone), Corey Stelly, Jolie Stelly, Chelsea Stelly, Ali Stelly and Nicole Strubbe. Her great-grandchildren, Peyton McGee (Inez), Wesley McGee, Braydon McGee, Camdon McGee, Hudson Perkins, Adien Petrone, Lucus Petrone, Augusto Strubbe and Hayze Torres and her great-great-grandchildren, Braxton McGee and Eve McGee.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Louis R.L. Castille; her parents, Odile Richard Dupuis and Noah Dupuis; her sisters, Gladys LeBlanc and her husband, Willis LeBlanc; Eula Mae Rasmussen and her husband, Jim Rasmussen and Mildred Breaux; her brothers, Milton Dupuis and his wife, Grace Dupuis and Nathan Dupuis and her brother-in-law, Woodrow Broussard.
Ella will forever be remembered for her gentle spirit, unwavering devotion to family, and boundless love for all those around her. As we mourn her passing, let us also celebrate the remarkable life she lived and the legacy of warmth and compassion she leaves behind.
