Ellen Joan Barbay Ducote, age 91, was born on September 18, 1934, in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, and passed away peacefully on Tuesday, September 8, 2026, at her residence in Melville, Louisiana.

Funeral services for Ellen Joan Barbay Ducote will be held on Monday, September 14, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. in the Lafond-Ardoin Funeral Home in Melville. Father Stephen Ugwu will conduct the service. Rite of Committal and Burial will follow in the St. John Catholic Church Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be David Ducote, Connor Ducote, Coby Ducote, Michael Beard, Dylan Beard and Hayden Ducote.

Visitation will be held on Monday, September 14, 2026, from 10:00 a.m. until 1:30 p.m. in the Lafond-Ardoin Funeral Home Chapel in Melville. A Rosary will be recited at 1:30 p.m. in the funeral home.

Ellen will be remembered as a caring and generous woman whose life was marked by love for others. She loved taking care of people, and that devotion was especially evident in the way she cherished her grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren. Her home and her heart were places of comfort, and she also found joy in caring for friends, extending kindness and attention to those around her.

She had a special love for flowers, which reflected the warmth and beauty she brought into the lives of others. Those who knew her will remember her for her nurturing spirit, her thoughtfulness, and the steady affection she shared so freely with family and friends.

Ellen is survived by her sons, Mark Ducote and Roger Ducote; her grandchildren, Stephanie Scott (Michael), Skye Ducote (Rick), Markie Ducote (Taylor), Coby Ducote (Paige), David Ducote (Kristin) Christy Sanchez (Chihuahua), Brooklyn Ducote (Ashley) and Hayden Ducote; her great-grandchildren, Kassi, Michael, Dylan, Haileigh, McKinley, Luke, Belle, B.J., Trinity, Kelsie, Karlee, Kinzlie, Arianna, Baby Ducote, Noah, Jake, Connor, Emma and Anna Grace and her great-great grandchildren, Graylyn, John and Baby Beard.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Cilton Joseph Ducote; her sons, Tommy Ducote and Scott Ducote; her parents, August Barbay, Jr. and Noelie Marie Millet Barbay; her sisters, Delores Fourrier, Shirley “Cici” Graham; her brothers, Frank Barbay, August Barbay, III and Kenneth Barbay; her grandson, Luke Ducote and her great-granddaughter, Peyton Ducote.
