Elrick Stanford passed away at his residence on Thursday, January 11, 2024. He was known for his remarkable career as a welder, spanning over 40 years. Elrick's unwavering dedication and skill paved the way for countless projects and left a lasting impact on those who witnessed his craftsmanship.

A visitation for Elrick will be held in the Skip Montet Chapel at LaFond-Ardoin Funeral Home of Opelousas on Saturday, January 13, 2024, from 9:00 AM to 2:00 PM. A funeral service will follow in the Skip Montet Chapel on Saturday at 2:00 PM.  A burial will follow at St. Bridget Catholic Church Cemetery in Lawtell, La. at 3:00 PM.

Elrick was born on January 2, 1942, in Opelousas, Louisiana.  From an early age, it was clear that Elrick possessed a natural talent for tinkering with things and building. This passion became a central aspect of his life. 

Elrick's warm personality defined him as an individual. One characteristic that endeared him to many was the fact that he always carried cotton with him. His generous nature was apparent in every aspect of his life; he was known for his willingness to lend a helping hand and spread love wherever he went.

Elrick had a creative side that manifested itself in various captivating hobbies. Among them was his love for making homemade ice cream—an endeavor that brought him great joy and became a delightful tradition cherished by all who knew him. In addition, he crafted his own hot rod—a testament to his ingenuity and dedication to creating something truly unique.   His loving presence touched the lives of those closest to him. He held dear relationships with family members. 

Elrick is survived by many cherished family members and friends who will forever carry memories of his warmheartedness in their hearts who include, his sister, Ruth Chapman and her husband, Rob; his nephews, Gary Stanford and wife, Kim, Jim Chapman and wife, Jenny, Brent Chapman and wife, Laura, Jason Chapman and wife, Angie, Dave Stanford and wife, Dawn, along with his nieces, Rebecca Stanford, and Christy Stanford Enriguez and husband, Abraham.  Additionally, Elrick was adored by numerous great-nephews and nieces.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Vorice and Elina Stanford; his first wife, Sandy Yeman Stanford; his second wife, Julia Taylor Stanford and his brothers, Aaron Stanford and Shirley Stanford and his great-nephew, Sterling “Jo Jo” Silver, Jr.

In our memories of Elrick Stanford may his legacy continue to inspire others to pursue their passions wholeheartedly and to always extend kindness to those around them. Elrick's spirit will live on in the hearts of all who were fortunate enough to have known him—a true testament to a life well-lived.
