Emela Boudreaux

Opelousas - A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, February 23, 2018, for Emela Trahan Boudreaux at Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Church. Father Gregory Simien will celebrate the Mass. Visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at Lafond-Ardoin Funeral Home of Opelousas. A Rosary will be prayed at 11:00 a.m. Rite of Committal and burial will follow at Bellevue Memorial Park.

Emela Trahan Boudreaux, age 89 and a resident of Opelousas, passed away on Tuesday, February 20, 2018 at Senior Village Nursing Home surrounded by her family.

Mrs. Boudreaux was a long-time parishioner of Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Church. She married in 1946 to Mr. Otis J. Boudreaux. Emela loved to sew and enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, especially her grandchildren.

She is survived by her sons, John "Boogie" Rixby Boudreaux of Waxia; and Patrick James Boudreaux and his wife, Cheryl of Lafayette; daughter, Susie B. Hilliard and her husband, David of Opelousas; daughter-in-law, Debbie B. Boudreaux of Carencro; sister, Joyce T. Hebert of Youngsville; 12 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; and 3 great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Otis Boudreaux; son, Warren Paul Boudreaux; daughter, Deborah Boudreaux; grandson, Thayne Hilliard; and parents, Sidney Trahan and Rosa Broussard Trahan.

Pallbearers will be Ross Boudreaux, Jarrett Hilliard, Hunter Boudreaux, Brook Boudreaux, CJ Boudreaux and Zachary Boudreaux. Honorary Pallbearers will be her great-grandsons.

The family would like to extend heartfelt thanks to the staff of LA Hospice and Palliative Care and the staff of Senior Village Nursing Home.
