Emma Lee Guidry Gauthier was born on January 31, 1933, in Rosa, Louisiana, and passed away peacefully at her residence in Broussard, Louisiana, surrounded by her family on August 1, 2025, at the age of 92 leaving behind a legacy that will be cherished by all who knew her.
Emma devoted most of her life to being a homemaker, a role she embraced with love and dedication. Throughout her life, she found great joy in sewing, a hobby that allowed her creativity to shine and often provided warmth and comfort to her family. Emma was passionate about caring for her loved ones, and her nurturing spirit was felt by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
Emma’s legacy is woven into the fabric of the memories shared with her family, as she cherished every moment spent in their company. Her love and devotion to her family were unwavering, making her the heart of their home.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, August 6, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. at Skip Montet Memorial Chapel at Lafond Ardoin Funeral Home in Opelousas, Louisiana. Father Clint Trahan will officiate the services.
Visitation will begin on Tuesday, August 5, 2025, at 3:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. in the Skip Montet Memorial Chapel at Lafond-Ardoin Funeral Home of Opelousas. A Rosary will be recited at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday evening led by Deacon Mitch Hebert. The funeral home will reopen on Wednesday from 8:00 a.m. until 10:00 a.m.
Emma is survived by her sisters, Laura G. Smith and Alice Hicks; two grandchildren: Karlee Roy and her husband, Joseph Roy; three great-grandchildren, Hunter Roy, Andre’ Roy, and Victoria Roy; eight great-grandchildren, Leo, Beau, Regina, Brooks, Chanleigh-Rae, Bailey Jane, Scarlett and Beckett; and a host of nieces and nephews.
She was preceeded in death by her husband of 63 years, Louis Gauthier; her parents, Clem Guidry and Leola Perrio Guidry; sister-in-law, Ettaline “Cat” Guidry; brothers, Louis Guidry and Howard Guidry; sisters, Lydia Riche and Ledie Wyble Marks; and nephews, Roy Gauthier and Clem Gauthier.
The pallbearers will be Joseph Roy, Andre’ Roy, Steve Wilson, Terry Guidry, Steve Guidry, and Clem Duhon.
Her life will be lovingly remembered, and her contributions to her family will forever remain in their hearts. Emma Gauthier leaves behind a cherished legacy of love, creativity, and devotion that will continue to inspire those she touched throughout her life.
