Francis Marie Leger, born on May 17, 1944, in Basile, Louisiana, passed away on Wednesday, June 24, 2026. Francis’s life was marked by devotion, warmth, and a sincere love for her family and community.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, June 29, 2026, at St. Landry Catholic Church in Opelousas, LA. Father Neil Pettit will celebrate the Mass. Rite of Committal and Burial will be held at Bellevue Memorial Park.

Pallbearers will be Kyle Leger, Charles Ardoin, Cleaton Leger, Kaleb Douget, Brent Ardoin and Chase Doucet.

Visitation will be held on Monday, June 29, 2026, from 8:00 a.m. until 9:00 a.m. in the Skip Montet Memorial Chapel at Lafond-Ardoin Funeral Home in Opelousas. A Rosary will be recited at 9:00 a.m. by Deacon Dwayne Joubert.

Throughout her eighty-two years, Francis touched the hearts of many with her unwavering support and boundless generosity. She enjoyed supporting her children and grandchildren, in their participation in rodeo. Her deep affection for animals, particularly horses and cattle, enriched her everyday life. She also enjoyed going to local casinos and watching sports on TV.

In her younger years, Francis was an avid sports enthusiast. She relished the friendly competition playing softball and basketball.

Francis is remembered lovingly by her daughters, Janet Bellard of Lawtell, LA and Mona Hendricks and husband, Charles, of Sunset, LA; her son, Donald Leger of Lawtell, LA; her grandchildren, Jacy Benoit and husband, Terrell, of Church Point, LA, Cassie Doucet and husband, Chase, of Rayne, LA, Kaleb Douget of Sunset, LA and Gracie Bellard of Statesboro, Georgia; three great-grandchildren and her sisters-in-law, Deanna Ardoin and Lydia Ardoin. Their cherished memories of Francis remain a testament to the meaningful impact she had on their lives.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Donald R. Leger; her parents, Hampton Ardoin and Rena Trahan; her brothers, Allen Ardoin, Clady Ardoin, and Ray Ardoin; her sister, Joycelyn Thatcher; and her grandson, Shayne Kirk Douget.

As the family mourns the loss of Francis Marie Leger, they also celebrate a life defined by love, encouragement, and steadfast dedication. Her memory will continue to inspire all who knew her.
