Leonville - Due to the Covid 19 mandated gathering restrictions, a private graveside service will be held at St. Leo Cemetery for Geraldine Cardinale Moreau. Deacon Dwayne Boudreaux will conduct the service.
Mrs. Moreau, age 80, was a native of New Orleans and longtime resident of Pecaniere, LA, died on May 4, 2020, at Opelousas General Health System. She was a telephone operator for many years. She will be remembered for being a wonderful cook. She enjoyed taking trips to the Evangeline Downs Casino with her husband and playing the slot machines. While at the J. Michael Memorial Nursing Home, she played Bingo regularly. She loved to babysit for friends and family. She thoroughly enjoyed visiting with family and friends throughout the years. She will be greatly missed by those who knew and loved her.
She is survived by her husband of 51 years, Gerald Gene Moreau of Arnaudville; son, Kerry Cardinale (Dianne) of Leonville; daughters, Kim Darbonne (Dwain) of Pecaniere; and Karen Devillier (Ricky) of Leonville; brother-in-law, Joseph "Ned" Moreau (Laura); sister-in-law, Dorothy "Dot" Stelly; special niece, Angela LeBlanc of Metairie; and host of nieces and nephews. She is also survived by her 6 grandchildren: Kristy Fontenot (Jamie) of Pecaniere; Cody Darbonne (Emily) of Scott; Nicole Gil (Michael) of New Iberia; Chawntelle Willingham (Kevin) of Leonville; Joshua Devillier of Leonville; and Mark Devillier of Leonville; and 7 great-grandchildren: Lindsey Fontenot of Pecaniere; Aubrie Darbonne of Scott; Hannah Darbonne of Scott; Kade Gil of New Iberia; Marlie Gil of New Iberia; Kate Willingham of Leonville; and Hope Willingham of Leonville.
Geraldine was preceded in death by her parents, Francisco "Frank" Cardinale and Hazel Badeau Cardinale; brothers, Raymond Cardinale and Salvadore Cardinale; sisters-in-law, Dawn Milto Cardinale and Beatrice L. Cardinale; brother in law, J. C. Stelly; her father-in-law, Newton G. Moreau and her mother-in-law, Mildred Carriere Moreau.
Pallbearers will be Cody Darbonne, Jamie Fontenot, Joshua Devillier, Mark Devillier, Kevin Willingham, and Jason Stelly.
The family will have a public gathering and Memorial Mass at a later date.
