OPELOUSAS ~ Gloria Lavergne Lalonde, age 87, passed away on Tuesday, September 23, 2025, at The Carpenter House in Lafayette, LA.

A Mass of Christian Burial for Gloria Lalonde will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, September 29, 2025, in Our Lady Queen of Angels Catholic Church in Opelousas, LA. The Very Reverend Monsignor Keith J. DeRouen will celebrate the Mass. Rite of Committal and Interment will follow in Bellevue Memorial Park in Opelousas.

Pallbearers will be Byran Lalonde, Jay Lalonde, Chris Zerangue, Dr. Greg Lalonde, Hunter Zerangue, Keith Foreman and Tyler Foreman. Honorary pallbearers will be Aby LaVergne, Jack Guedry, Brody Zerangue, Brandon Myers, and Brach Myers.

The family requests that visiting hours be observed from 9:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. on Monday, September 29, 2025. A rosary will be prayed at 1:00 p.m. in the funeral home.

Gloria worked as a self-employed hairdresser for forty plus years. As a loving homemaker and caretaker, Gloria dedicated herself to her family, cherishing the moments spent together, especially during large family gatherings that highlighted her deep love for those around her. Her warm spirit and caring nature radiated through her commitment to serving others, making her a beloved figure in the lives she touched. She also had a passion for the arts, regularly enjoying plays and musicals at the theatre. She enjoyed shopping at her favorite stores, fishing, camping and visiting casinos.

An accomplished cook, Gloria displayed her love for her family through her culinary skills, engaging in cooking and canning with dedication. Her stories were often intermingled with a keen wit, as she possessed a wonderful sense of humor that brightened the lives of those around her.

Gloria was deeply committed to her spiritual life, attending her hourly time at the Adoration Chapel and praying her rosary daily.

Gloria is survived by her children, Byran Lalonde and his wife, Brenna Dee, of Lafayette, LA; Jay Lalonde and his wife, Marie, of Lafayette, LA; Dayna Foreman and her husband, Keith, of Rockwall, Texas; and Tobi Zerangue and her husband, Chris, of Opelousas, LA; her siblings, Aby LaVergne (Sandra), Clara Smith, Germaine Guedry (Jack); two sisters-in-law, Jerilyn LaVergne and Audry Lavergne; 12 grandchildren, Kacie Lee (Chet), of Plaisance, LA; Abbie Prudhomme (Travis), of Lawtell, LA; Brandon Myers of Lafayette, LA; Brach Myers (Carly), of Lafayette, LA; Brae Lalonde (Tyler), of Youngsville, LA; Dr. Greg Lalonde (Dr. Chloe Renshaw), of Baltimore, MD; Hunter Zerangue (Jessica), of Fort Polk, LA; Katherine Talley (Derek), of Henderson, LA; Tyler Foreman of Rockwall, TX; Sydney Benson (Matthew), of Dallas, TX; Brody Zerangue of Opelousas, LA and Dr. Avery Foreman of Rockwall, TX; 23 great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews and extended family.

Gloria was preceded in death by her husband of 67 years, Lester Lalonde; her parents, Theobert Lavergne, Sr. and Amanthe Elkins Lavergne; her siblings, Raymond Lavergne, Lorella L. Sonnier, Erline L. Thibodeaux, Theobert Lavergne, Jr., and Cecil Bert LaVergne; and her great-granddaughter, Mackenzie Paige Fontenot.

The family would like to offer extended thanks to the wonderful staff at Ochsner Lafayette General Medical Center, Louisiana Extended Care Hospital of Lafayette, doctors, nurses, CNAs, her caregivers, religious staff, and all of the family and friends for their love and continuous support.

Gloria’s legacy is one of love, faith, and service, and she will be dearly missed by all those fortunate enough to have known her.
