Opelousas – A Mass of Christian Burial for Helen Louise (LeBlanc) Basile will be held on Saturday, September 24, 2022, at 12:00 p.m. at Our Lady Queen of Angels Catholic Church in Opelousas. The Very Reverend Monsignor Keith J. DeRouen celebrate the Mass. Rite of Committal and burial will follow at Bellevue Memorial Park.
It is with deep sorrow we regretfully announce the passing of Helen Louise (LeBlanc) Basile on Tuesday, September 20, 2022, at the age of 94, at her residence with her loving family.
Helen was born in Waxia, LA and graduated as the valedictorian from Port Barre High School. She worked at Morgan and Lindsey and American Telephone and Telegraph until she became a wife and mother. Helen was a kind and giving person and was a wonderful mother and friend. She enjoyed scrapbooking, working in her yard, cooking, shopping, and spending time with her family. She was married to the love her life, her husband, Tony, for 37 years. Helen will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her.
She is survived by sons, Dr. Michael Basile and Timothy Basile. Grandchildren, Michael Basile, II and wife, Andrea, Mandie Stelly and husband, Joby, Natalie Basile Daigle and husband, Stewart, Emily Basile and four great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Anthony J. “Tony” Basile, Jr.; her daughter, Debra K. Basile; her parents, Frank and Emily Gros LeBlanc; and her siblings, Frank A. “Sonny” LeBlanc, Gussie “Gus” LeBlanc, James “Bubbie” LeBlanc, Kirtley LeBlanc, Joan McCarthy and Daisy Mae “Bootsie” LeBlanc.
Visitation will be held in the Skip Montet Memorial Chapel at Lafond-Ardoin Funeral Home of Opelousas on Friday, September 23, 2022, from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. A Rosary will be prayed at 6:00 p.m. on Friday evening by Deacon Jerome Collins. The funeral home will reopen on Saturday, September 24, 2022, from 8:00 a.m. until 11:30 am.
Pallbearers will be Timothy Basile, Dr. Michael Basile, Michael Basile, II, Glen LeBlanc, Kirk LeBlanc, and Butch Thibodeaux.
The family would like to thank Ms. Basile’s caretakers, Bridgette Martin, Kayla Martin, Marie Mallett, Shirley Caesar and the staff of Compassus Hospice and Palliative Care, Kaleb, Jenna, Lorene, Mae and Liz.
