Huey Hymel

Opelousas - Funeral services for Huey Paul Hymel, age 81, will be held on Saturday, August 30, 2008 at 11:00 a.m. in the Lafond-Ardoin Funeral Home Chapel, followed by interment in the Bellevue Memorial Park Cemetery in Opelousas.

Deacon Davis with Hospice will conduct the funeral service.

Mr. Hymel, a native of Vacherie, La. and resident of Lafayette, La., died at 8:00 a.m. on August 28, 2008 at his residence.

Mr. Hymel was a retired Louisiana State Trooper and the owner and operator of a grocery store in Lafayette, La. He belonged to the Louisiana State Police Association.

Mr. Hymel is survived by his wife, Ella Mae Deville Hymel, of Lafayette, La.; his two sons, Malcolm James Hymel and Val Paul Hymel of Lafayette, La. and one adopted son, Dwayne Scherer; his two daughters, Jeannie Gregory and her husband, Wayne, of Turkey Creek; and Margie Latiolais and her husband, Gerald, of Lafayette, La. He is also survived by one brother, Russell Hymel; and seven sisters, Yolande Waguespack, Irma Marchadie; Rowena Labat; Geraldine Becnel; Faye Troxclair; Elaine Troxclair; Francis Poirrier. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Earl Hebert, Jr.; Rachael Hymel; Stephanie Gregory; Trenton Hymel; Pipier Lynn Gregory and his great-grandchildren, Jordan Hebert; Layla Phimmanichgun.

Mr. Hymel is preceded in death by his parents, Marie Waguespack and Dozillia Hymel; his brothers, Donald Hymel; Richard Hymel and his sisters, Marguerite Bourgeois; Leonie Therese Hymel and Elsie Hymel.

Visiting hours will be observed in the Lafond-Ardoin Funeral Home on Friday, August 29, 2008 from 4:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. and will re-open on Saturday, from 8:00 a.m. until time of service.

A rosary service will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Friday, August 29, 2008
