Grand Prairie-Service for Ita Dupre, age 78, will be held on Tuesday, May 12, 2009, at 11:00 a.m. in the St. Peter Catholic Church, followed by interment in the St. Andrews Cemetery in Plaisance, Louisiana.
Mrs. Dupre, a native of native and resident of Plaisance died on Sunday, May 10, 2009 at 8:26 a.m. Opelousas General Health System.
Mrs. Dupre worked many years in the deli department at Bennys Big Star and she was also a retired cafeteria cook at South Street Elementary, but her greatest joy was cooking for her children.
She is survived by her husband, Mr. Otis Dupre of Plaisance; two sons, Roderick Dupre and wife Margie of Opelousas and Keith Dupre and wife Phyllis of Ville Platte; a daughter, Gwen Fontenot and husband Blain of Ville Platte; two brother, Ludry Dupre of Plaisance and Curtis Dupre of Carencro; three sisters, Bernadese Tate of Ville Platte, Juanita Stelly of Washington, and Renelle Tiny Cormier of Carencreo; 11 grandchilden and 19 great grandchildren.
Mrs Dupre was preceded in death by her parents, Harris and Elda Dupre and a son, Carl Dupre.
Visiting hours will be observed in the Lafond-Ardoin Funeral Home of Opelousas on Monday, May 11, 2009 from 10:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. and will re-open on Tuesday at 8:00 a.m. A rosary service will be recited on Monday evening.
Pallbearers for Mrs. Dupre will be Jerry Kidder, Scotty Dupre, Chad Dupre, Joseph Thibodeaux, Curtis Dupre, and Ludry Dupre.
LaFond-Ardoin Funeral Home of Opelousas has been entrusted with the funeral arrangements 337-942-2638.
