James S. Briant, known affectionately to all as "Jimmy," passed away peacefully on December 26, 2025, at the age of 75, following a valiant and courageous battle with AML Leukemia. Even in his final days, Jimmy never lost his trademark eternal optimism or his quick sense of humor.
A Memorial Gathering of family and friends will be held from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, January 6, 2026, in the Skip Montet Memorial Chapel of Lafond Ardoin Funeral Home in Opelousas, LA.
A Life Full of Spirit
Jimmy was a man who truly loved life. An outgoing personality who never met a stranger, he was often the heart of the room. A lifelong, devoted fan of the New Orleans Saints, he spent his autumns cheering for the Black and Gold. He loved the festivities of New Orleans during Mardi Gras. He enjoyed spending time at the beach, surrounded by the salt air, family, and friends. Playing golf was a favorite pastime.
A Devoted Family Man
Above all his interests, Jimmy's greatest passion was his family. He was a deeply devoted husband and grandfather, taking immense pride in the legacy he built. He leaves behind his loving and devoted wife, Annette, who was his constant pillar of support. His memory will be cherished by his four children and their families: Jared Briant and his wife, Ingrid; Stephanie Brown and her husband, Jerrod; Robert Briant; Blair Briant and his wife, Deven. Jimmy was a proud "Papa" to his seven grandchildren: Mia and Jake Briant; Wesley, Lindsey, and Drake Brown; and Gavin and Evi Anderle. He loved nothing more than hearing about their lives and spending quality time together.
A loving brother-in-law and uncle, Jimmy valued time spent sharing great food, laughter, and his quick wit at family functions.
Jimmy was preceded in death by his father, John P. Briant, Jr.
Remembrances
In honor of Jimmy's fighting spirit and his desire to help others facing similar battles, the family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the Leukemia Foundation.
