Krotz Springs, Louisiana - James "Grady" Lacassin, a gentle soul whom everyone loved, passed away on July 24, 2023, in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. He was born on July 28, 1959, in Opelousas, Louisiana.
Grady was a beloved member of the community and leaves behind a legacy of kindness and generosity. He was known for his warm smile, gentle demeanor, and unwavering compassion for others. Grady had a way of making everyone he encountered feel valued and loved. As a true servant of the Lord, Grady was an altar assistant at St. Anthony Catholic Church since he was a child.
In his leisure time, Grady enjoyed following all sports at LSU. Whether it was men's or women's sports, he was an avid fan who cheered on his favorite teams with great enthusiasm. One of his greatest joys in life came from savoring delicious meals at restaurants with buffets. Grady appreciated good food and cherished the moments spent sharing meals with loved ones.
Throughout his life, Grady accomplished many remarkable feats. He became the Fourth Knight of the Knights of Columbus, dedicating himself to selflessly serving others within his community. This role allowed him to make a meaningful difference in the lives of those around him.
Additionally, Grady's dedication and contributions to his community were recognized when he was honored as the Heritage King of Krotz Springs. This title exemplified his deep-rooted connection to the town he called home and spoke volumes about the impact he had on its residents.
Grady will be greatly missed by all those who had the pleasure of knowing him. He is survived by his mother, Mary Lou Lacassin Brooks and step-father, Robert "Bobby" Brooks; brother, Glenn Lacassin, Jr. and significant other, Lynn Barron; sisters, Bonnie Lacassin Huguet and fiancé, Ronnie Muckleroy; and Debbie Lacassin; nephews, Joshua Evans and Ridge Lacassin; nieces, Haley Brooke Ackerman and Chelsie Lacassin; numerous great-nieces and great-nephews; and his beloved dog, Ellie Mae, whom he loved like his own daughter.
He was preceded in death by his father, Glenn Joseph Lacassin, Sr.; as well as, his paternal grandparents, Louis and Elmire Lacassin; and maternal grandparents, Andrew and Odette Lanclos.
A Visitation will be held on Thursday, July 27, 2023, from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Lafond Ardoin Funeral Home in Krotz Springs with a Rosary being recited at 6:00 PM by his first cousin, Johnnie "Boo-Boo" Soileau in the funeral home. The Visitation will resume on Friday, July 28, 2023, at 8:00 AM to 1:30 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 2:00 PM at St. Anthony Catholic Church in Krotz Springs. Burial will follow at Bellevue Memorial Park in Opelousas.
Pallbearers will be Josh Evans, Ridge Lacassin, Eric Lacassin, Ronnie Muckleroy, Keith Ardoin, and Andre Lanclos. Honorary Pallbearers will be Colton Niemeyer and Bobby Brooks.
Reception following burial will be held at the Community Center in Krotz Springs - 5:00pm - family would love for all friends of Grady and the family to attend Grady‘s heavenly birthday celebration.
Grady touched the hearts of many and his memory will forever live on in their hearts. He will be remembered as a kind and compassionate man who made the world a brighter place. May he rest in peace.
