James Leblanc, Sr.

January 15, 1939 — June 11, 2018

Opelousas - Memorial services for James "Jim" Edward LeBlanc, Sr. will be held at 6:00 PM on Thursday, June 14, 2018, in the Skip Montet Chapel in the Lafond-Ardoin Funeral Home of Opelousas. Deacon Dwayne Joubert will officiate the services. The gathering of family and friends will be held from 5:00 PM until at 6:00 PM in the funeral home.

Mr. LeBlanc, age 79, passed away on Monday, June 11, 2018, at his residence. He was retired from Exxon Mobile as a Drilling Superintendent after working for several years in the oilfield. He was a U. S. Navy Veteran who proudly served his country. Jim was a member of the Elks Lodge in Opelousas for many years.

He was a private pilot who flew and built single engine aircrafts. He enjoyed flying and building remote control airplanes. He was an avid reader. He loved being outdoors fishing, hunting, cooking, camping, traveling and tailgating at the ballgames. He also enjoyed playing a good game of bourre' with family and friends. Jim will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.

Survivors include his wife of 21years, Diane Degueyter LeBlanc of Opelousas; his sons, Jimmy E. LeBlanc, Jr. of Port Barre; and Brandon Stelly of Prairieville; his daughter, Shauna Stelly Coll and husband, Michael of Opelousas; his daughter-in-law, Vicki Bergquist of Quinlan, TX; his brothers, George LeBlanc and wife, Lynne of Opelousas; Arvie LeBlanc and wife, Sandra of Leonville; his sisters, Neva L. Meredith of West Monroe; and Jeannette L. DeJean of Church Point; brothers-in-law, Jesse DeGeytere and wife, Roselyn of Huntington Beach, CA; Floyd Degueyter and wife, Lydia of Broussard; Bobby Degueyter and wife, Sue of Leonville; Lloyd Degueyter and wife, Myrtis of Broussard; and Glen Degueyter and partner, Darrell Johnson of New Orleans; and his sisters-in-law, Sissy LeBlanc of Opelousas; and Bonnie Degueyter and spouse, Kathie McGowan of San Antonio, TX; one grandson, Caleb Stelly; and a host of nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his daughter, Jeannette LeBlanc; his parents, Treme Joseph LeBlanc, Sr. and Eve Jannise LeBlanc; his brothers, Treme Joseph "Joe" LeBlanc, Jr., Michael LeBlanc, and infant brother, Harvey LeBlanc; his sisters, Geraldine LeBlanc, and Gertie L. Boudreaux; his brothers-in-law, Chip DeJean, Bill Trew, and Clogest Boudreaux; two granddaughters, Savannah Grace Stelly and Katherine Denise Coll; and his former wife and the mother of his children, Constance "Connie" Trew LeBlanc.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in memory of Mr. Jim to St. Jude's Children's Hospital or to a charity of your choice.
