A Celebration of Life Service in honor of Jodi Lyn Ellis will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, September 19, 2026, at the Gary Soileau Community Center, 216 Park St, Krotz Springs, LA 70750.

Jodi Lyn Ellis, 54, of Melville, Louisiana, was born on July 22, 1972, in Lafayette, Indiana to the late Malcomb Emmons and Nancy Clark.

Jodi was a devoted wife, loving mother, and Maw Maw, and a woman whose life was deeply rooted in faith, family, and kindness. She worked as a legal secretary for 17 years and was the proud owner of Ellis Edibles Cookies. Throughout her life, her greatest joy and accomplishment remained her family.

Jodi married John Ellis on February 16, 2002. Together they shared a life filled with love and companionship. Jodi and John especially enjoyed camping, fishing, spending time with family, and sharing meals at their favorite restaurant "Richard's". Their love for one another was wholehearted and they were rarely far from each other's side.

Jodi was a devoted and supportive mother who loved her children unconditionally. She held an especially treasured place in her heart for her grandchildren, who lovingly knew her as “Maw Maw.” They were her world and brought love and happiness into her life that was immeasurable.

Those who knew Jodi will remember her for her warm and delightful personality, generous heart, and genuine kindness. She was always willing to help others and gave freely of herself without expecting anything in return. She enjoyed Christian music, camping, fishing, and most importantly being surrounded by the people she loved.

Her faith in Jesus was an important part of her life and remained a source of strength and comfort to her. Among the words she held especially close were the simple expression of faith: "God's got me."

Jodi is survived by her husband of 24 years, John Ellis of Melville; her children: Brandon Ellis and partner, Betty Hodges of Melville; Kelly Stelly and fiancé, Stephen Broussard of Maurice; Kyle Marsh of Lafayette, Indiana; John Ellis II of Melville; and her bonus daughter, Jani Porche of Krotz Springs. She is also survived by her grandchildren: Ja'colby Ellis, Brandon Ellis, Jr., Cassie Stelly, Jonathan Ellis, Henry Ellis, Kail Marsh, Noah Ellis, Kyler Goudeau, Journee Broussard, Cameryn Broussard, Brantley Klepinger; and her bonus grandchildren, Amari Anderson and Annalise Hertzog.

She is further survived by her stepmother, Christine Emmons of Lafayette, Indiana; her brothers: Patrick Emmons and wife, Angelina; and James Marlatt and wife, Donna; sister-in-law, Juanita Emmons; her nieces and nephews: Kalem Emmons, Luke Emmons, Anna Riley, Elizabeth Marlatt, Rebecca Hilbert, and Leland Emmons.

Jodi was preceded in death by her parents, Malcomb Emmons and Nancy Clark; her brother, Michael Emmons; her sister, Kimberly Doyle; and her grandson, Tucker Marsh.

Jodi's life will be remembered through the love she gave so freely, the family she cherished, the faith she carried, and the countless memories shared with those fortunate enough to know her. Her kindness and devotion to her family leaves a lasting legacy that will continue through the lives of her children and grandchildren. Her presence will be deeply missed, her memory forever treasured, and her love carried forward by all who knew and loved her.
