Joel Ellis, Sr.

Krotz Springs - It is with deep sorrow we announce the passing of Joel Pink Ellis, Sr. on Sunday, August 14, 2022, at the age of 79.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, August 17, 2022, at the Krotz Springs United Pentecostal Church (444 Main Street, Krotz Springs, LA 70750).  Visitation will be held from 12:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. in the church.  Rev. Allen Johnson will conduct the service.  Burial will follow at the Ellis Family Cemetery in Krotz Springs, LA.

Mr. Ellis was a farmer all his life and farmed with his brother since 1960.  He enjoyed being outdoors, gardening, picking peas and fishing.  He loved spending time with his family and friends.  Joel was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather who will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.

He is survived by his wife of 39 years, Jean Elizabeth Price Ellis of Krotz Springs; his children, Joel Pink Ellis, Jr., Wayne Ellis, Sr., Mildred Skrantz, John A. Ellis, Rebecca Rouse, Theresa Ellis, Curtis Roman and Richard Dean Ellis; and his siblings, Vitula Dupree, Jessie Ellis, and Gloria Faye Bihm.  He is also survived by 17 grandchildren and 17 great-great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Henry Lee Ellis, Sr. and Lorine Stermer Ellis; his siblings, Henry Lee Ellis, Jr., J.B. Ellis, Sr., Frank Lewis Ellis and J.W. Ellis; and his grandson, Wayne Ellis, Jr.

Pallbearers will be Jeffery Ellis, Paul Ellis, Curtis Roman, Kevin Dupree, Ray Payne, and Taylor Ellis.
