Joseph Leger

Opelousas - Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, April 30, 2018 for Joseph Warren Leger in the Skip Montet Chapel at Lafond-Ardoin Funeral Home in Opelousas with visitation beginning at 9:00 AM until 1:30 PM. A rosary will be prayed at 1:30 PM followed by the service at 2:00 PM. Deacon Sammy Diesi will officiate the rosary and the service. Burial will be held at Bellevue Memorial Park.

Mr. Leger, age 72, a resident of Opelousas, passed away on Thursday, April 26, 2018 at Lafayette General Medical Center.

Joseph loved spending time outdoors enjoying the country. He mostly enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. Joseph will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.

He is survived by his sons, Ronnie Leger and wife, Jessica, of Opelousas, LA; Jody Leger and wife, Dana, of Leonville, LA; his daughters, Vickie Collins and husband, Mike, of Lafayette, LA; Michelle Head and husband, Corey, of Leonville, LA; his brothers, Joseph Merrick Leger and wife, Janelle, of Port Barre, LA; Elvin Leger and wife, Emma Jean, of Opelousas, LA; Darius "Winkie" Leger, Jr. and wife, Virginia, of Darrel, LA and his sister, Marie Chautin of Lawtell, LA.

He is also survived by his nine grandchildren, Eric, Derek, Aaron, Alec, Alaina, Ashlyn, Jacob, Hunter, Emily and five great-grandchildren, Haiden, Addison, Ava, Sophia and Jaide.

He was preceded in death by wife, Dorothy Babin Leger; his parents, Darius Leger and Lucille Stelly Leger; his brother, Joseph Russell Leger and his sisters, Geraldine L. Moreau and Earline L. Courville.

Pallbearers will be Ronnie Leger, Jody Leger, Eric Leger, Derek Leger, Aaron Hebert and Alec Collins. Honorary pallbearers will be Jacob Collins, Hunter Leger and Haiden Leger.
