Opelousas- Funeral Services for Joseph Berchman Viviano, known to many as “J. B.”, will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, October 17, 2022, in the Skip Montet Memorial Chapel at Lafond Ardoin Funeral Home in Opelousas, LA. Rev. Msgr. Keith DeRouen will celebrate the service. Rite of Committal and interment will follow at Bellevue Memorial Park in Opelousas, LA.
It is with deep sorrow we regretfully announce the passing of J. B. Viviano on Saturday, October 15, 2022, at the age of 87 at The Carpenter House of St. Joseph Hospice in Lafayette, LA.
J. B. was a gifted carpenter for over 50 years. He owned his own business and built many homes in the Opelousas area. He enjoyed spending time outdoors hunting and was an expert fisherman. As a pastime, he was an avid golfer and an expert bowler. He was full of life and cherished time spent with his wife and family. His priority in life was his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. He will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
He is survived by his loving wife of 68 years, Carole Schexnayder Viviano of Opelousas; two sons, Richard Allen Viviano (Lisa) and David Keith Viviano (Kathy); three daughters, Teena Marie Viviano, Cynthia Ann Hines (Chris), and Susan Viviano Mathes (Scott); eight grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph Viviano and Julia Meyers Viviano; two brothers, Andrew Viviano and Paul Viviano; and one great-grandchild, Rocky Joseph Viviano.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, October 16, 2022, from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. in the Skip Montet Memorial Chapel at Lafond-Ardoin Funeral Home of Opelousas. A Rosary will be prayed on Sunday evening at 6:30 p.m. On Monday, October 17, 2022, visitation will continue from 10:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. in the Lafond-Ardoin Funeral Home in Opelousas.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Joseph "J.B." Viviano’s name can be made to the Opelousas Area Cerebral Palsy Clinic, 841 East Bellevue St, Opelousas, LA, 70570.
The family would like to extend special thanks to the staff of The Carpenter House of St. Joseph Hospice for their wonderful medical care which was received by Mr. Viviano. Additionally, special thanks and appreciation is given to Jonathan Johnson and family for their sincere friendship, heartfelt care, and support given to our family.
