Joy grew up in Palmetto with her sisters, Mary Ann Kidder, Anita Faye Lanclos, and Cheryl Lynn Piazza. She moved to Melville with her late husband, Horace Dupont. They enjoyed almost 60 years of marriage and raised four wonderful children: Ronald Dupont, Sr., Mark Dupont, Tim Dupont, Sr., and Deanna Ellis.
Joy was the definition of her name, “a feeling of great pleasure and happiness. “She was very caring and always cheerful. She enjoyed reading books, piecing together puzzles, gardening, watching HGTV, and spending time with her family. Every Saturday, the family gathered at Joy’s house for quality time and to try to catch one of her rare but witty jokes. She had a sweet tooth, but she had a very sweet spot for her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She always attended their events, listened to their silly stories, listened to their interests, and only required a head scratch from time to time. She made them pancakes in the morning, taught them to crochet, shared her puzzles, and told them to always be themselves. She would always tell them they were going to get a whooping, but she only ever patted their arms with a stern glare. You could never leave her house without a hug, a kiss goodbye, and I love you.
Joy is reuniting with her husband, Horace Dupont of Melville; her parents, Colon and Ellan Kidder; her brothers-in-law, Robert Lanclos and Samuel Piazza; and her son-in-law, Joseph Bass in Heaven.
She is survived by her children: Ronald Dupont Sr. and his wife, Debra Dupont; Mark Dupont and his wife, Yvette Dupont; Timothy Dupont, Sr.; and Deanna Ellis and her husband, Paul Ellis; her sisters, Mary Ann Kidder, Anita Faye Lanclos, and Cheryl Lynn Piazza; her grandchildren: Ronald Dupont, Jr. and his wife, Brandy Dupont; Julia Dupont Tate, Timothy Dupont, Jr., Joanna Bass, Tanner Dupont, Madelyn Dupont, and Sara Lee; and her great-grandchildren: Elizabeth and Harley Dupont, Jacob Tate, Liam and Penny Lane Dupont, Gracelin and Carter Ellis.
Her legacy of love and kindness will live on in the hearts of those who knew her. Joy Lee Dupont will be profoundly missed, yet her spirit will continue to shine brightly in the memories, stories, and lives she touched.
