Joycelyn Quirk

Opelousas-Service for Joycelyn Ortego Quirk, age 75, will be held on Friday, April 17, 2009, at 10:00 a.m. in the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, followed by interment in the Cedar Hill Cemetery in Washington, Louisiana. Father Albert Nunez will conduct the Mass of Christian Burial.

Mrs. Quirk, a resident of Beggs, La., died on Tuesday, April 14, 2009 at 4:35 a.m. at Opelousas General Health System.

Mrs. Quirk was a member of the Washington Garden Club and the Krotz Springs Quilters Guild.

She is survived by three sons, Bill Quirk and his wife, Karen; Joe Quirk and his wife, Denise and George Quirk and his wife, Jeanne all of Beggs, La.; one daughter, Mary Quirk of Asheville, North Carolina and one sister, Sister Mary Jo Ortego of Lafayette, La. She is also survived by five grandchildren: Tim Quirk, Leslie Quirk, Jordan Quirk, Will Quirk and Sam Quirk and two great-grandchildren, Brianna and Sophia.

Mrs. Quirk was preceded in death her husband, Lionel Quirk, Jr.; her daughter, Sally Anne Quirk; her parents, Golbert and Marie Lafleur Ortego and also four brothers and one sister.

Visiting hours will be observed in the Lafond-Ardoin Funeral Home of Opelousas on Thursday, April 16, 2009 from 4:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. and will re-open on Friday, April 17, 2009 at 7:00 a.m. until time of services. A rosary service will be recited at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday evening.
