Leonard James "Lenny" Soileau was born on July 20, 1950, in Opelousas, Louisiana. He passed away on September 9, 2026, at the age of 76.

A Memorial Gathering of family and friends will be held on Wednesday, September 16, 2026, from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. in the Skip Montet Memorial Chapel at Lafond Ardoin Funeral Home in Opelousas, LA. The Memorial service with military honors will follow at 1:00 p.m. in the chapel.

A proud veteran of the United States Air Force, Lenny went on to live a life defined by the things he loved most - horses, the outdoors, and a natural ability to bring people together.

Following his military service, Lenny found his place in the saddle. Known for an extraordinary ability to train and bring out the best in every horse, he was equally formidable in the arena. As a champion rodeo competitor, Lenny brought passion and an undeniable spirit to every ride, leaving a lasting legacy in the rodeo world.

After hanging up his spurs, he fulfilled another passion in dog training. He was an avid hunter who found true joy in the great outdoors, working side-by-side with the dogs he loved to train.

Lenny spent his later years at C'est La Vie in Opelousas, Louisiana, where his larger-than-life personality quickly made him a beloved part of the community. Never one to sit on the sidelines, he loved cooking for the residents, planning and hosting events, and finding any reason to bring people together. Just as Lenny brought so much joy to those around him, the residents of C'est La Vie brought tremendous happiness and meaning to his life in return. Known as the life of the party, Lenny brought laughter, friendship, and his unmistakable spirit wherever he went.

Lenny was preceded in death by his father, Bill Soileau; his mother, Dorothy Soileau; and his brother, Billy Soileau.

He is survived by his sons, Shane Soileau and his wife, Suzanna, and Brandt Soileau and his wife, Paige; his daughter, Lindy Blakewood and her husband, Scott; his grandchildren, Willa, Tanner, Talan, Tatum, Ella, and Jack; his brothers, Robert Soileau, Richard Soileau and his wife, Paula, and Joe Soileau and his wife, Billie; and his sister, Maria Fox. He also leaves behind many nieces and nephews whom he adored.
