Linda was a person who loved the outdoors and had a passion for horses. From her earliest days, Linda demonstrated a strong affinity for nature, a trait that stayed with her throughout her life. She was often found outdoors, whether she was tending to her garden or simply taking in the natural beauty around her. She worked as a file clerk for Union Oil Company for 12 years. She found great fulfillment working for many years at Cherie's Florist in Sunset, where she loved working with plants.
Horses were a central part of Linda’s identity. In her younger years, she enjoyed trail rides. Her passion grew into a lifelong dedication; she became a member of the American Jockey Club, a testament to her love and commitment to equestrian pursuits. Linda raised Thoroughbred racehorses and took special pride in her lead ponies, investing great care into their well-being and training.
Linda’s proudest accomplishments not only reflected her interests but also her values. Her Methodist faith was a source of strength and guidance throughout her life, and she carried her beliefs into all that she did. Linda’s life was further enriched by her love of music—a passion that serenaded the quieter corners of her world. In moments of reflection, she found comfort in the melodies of classical music, often playing the flute with great skill and sensitivity. Her membership in both the Lafayette Concert Band and the New Iberia Concert Band spanned many years, and through these ensembles, she found harmony, friendship, and the opportunity to share her gift for music with her community.
She is survived by her brother, Emmett Carson, Jr. and wife, Patricia “Patsy” of Lafayette; her sister, Cecille ‘Sue” Carson and husband, Steve Davis of Lafayette. She is also survived by her nephew, Ryan Carson and wife, Jenny; her step-niece, Raeghan Davis; and her great-nieces and great-nephew, Clara Rose Carson, Oscar Kyle Carson and Etta Stevie Carson. She is also survived by a host of first cousins, extended family and friends.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Emmett Louis Carson, Sr. and Cecille Alberta Romero Carson.
Her presence will be deeply missed, and her memory will live on in the lives she touched.
