Linda Elizabeth Couvillon Lomenick

August 9, 1941 — May 26, 2024

Linda grew up in Opelousas, Louisiana.  She attended the Academy of the Immaculate Conception, graduating in 1959.  She later attended USL, where she earned a degree in education in 1964.  In a teaching career spanning over forty years, she taught countless students in several school districts, starting in Orleans Parish, then St. Landry Parish at Belmont Academy, and finally Iberia Parish.  She devoted most of her years teaching at Belmont Academy, where she left a lasting impression on her students.

Linda was a life long learner and teacher, who believed that everyday one could learn something.  She loved to read, and enjoyed taking long walks, traveling and spending time with her family and friends.  At her home, one could always find a pot of coffee brewing and an ear for listening.

To know Linda was to love her.  She was extremely kind and generous, and she enjoyed giving gifts to individuals she knew and loved.  She was a Southern Belle through and through.

She is survived by her two daughters, Laura Lomenick Stevens (Blake), Leah Lomenick Padgett (Eugene), as well as her son's widow Laura Lomenick Broussard, her grandchildren Mason Lee Stevens, Otis Eugene Lomenick IV, Morgan Aleyce Stevens, Noah Michael Lomenick, Jessep Blue Padgett, Samuel David Padgett, her great granddaughter Collins Aleyce Matte, her brother Thomas Couvillon (Charlotte), her sister Aleyce Couvillon Hatch ( Billy), her sister in law Von Couvillon, her sister in law Susan Reed Odom as well as her godchildren Thomas Couvillon III (Dalisa) and Libby Hatch Weatherholt (Scott) and a host of nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents Dr. Thomas N. Couvillon and Aleyce S. Couvillon, her brother Dr. David O.  Couvillon, her son Otis Eugene Lomenick III, her daughter Elizabeth Ann Lomenick, a grandchild Jackson Padgett and the father of her children Otis E.  Lomenick, Jr.

A private memorial will be held at a later date.
