Mabel Lee Thibodeaux Glover, born on July 29, 1938, in Eunice, Louisiana, passed away peacefully on May 31, 2026, in Arnaudville. She was a woman whose life was marked by grace, warmth, and a genuine love for the simple beauties of the world around her.

Mabel was known to many as the “Butterfly Lady,” a cherished title bestowed upon her by the Gazette newspaper in Ville Platte. This nickname was a heartfelt reflection of her soul’s affinity for butterflies. She found joy in tending her flower garden, a sanctuary where color and fragrance intertwined, bringing solace and happiness to her days.

A lover of travel, Mabel’s adventures took her far beyond her Louisiana roots, though it was her Alaskan cruise that held a special place in her heart. The majestic landscapes and serene wilderness of that journey remained one of her fondest memories. Whether traveling or at home, she found comfort in the simple routine of sitting outside, sipping her “medcine,” and watching the birds and butterflies—a quiet communion with nature that brought her peace and contentment.

Mabel also enjoyed trips to the casino, embracing life’s small pleasures with a zest that inspired those around her. She was a woman who understood the beauty in everyday moments and celebrated them with a spirited heart.

She is survived by her daughters, Emily Glover and Winona Lowe; her brother, Joseph “Joe” Thibodeaux; her grandchildren, Nina Pumphrey and her husband, Heath, Dadra Stewart and her husband, Danny, Elizabeth Lowe, Caroline Edlund and her husband, Dillon, Samuel Glover, Alex Glover and his wife, Mallory and Morgan Glover; her 14 great-grandchildren; her 8 great-great grandchildren and one more on the way; her daughter-in-law, Dianne Glover; and a host of beloved nieces, nephews, and extended family.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Theodule and Ella Thibodeaux; her sons, Eddie Glover and Byron Glover; her grandson, Edward Boutin II; her brothers, John Thibodeaux and Don “Blackie” Thibodeaux; and her sisters, Anna Lee Thibodeaux and Ethel Thibodeaux.

Though she has departed from our sight, the butterflies she adored now carry her spirit on their wings, reminding us of the enduring grace she shared with all who crossed her path. She will be deeply missed by those who knew her.
