Marie Daigle Courville passed away on October 16, 2025, at the Our Lady of Prompt Succor Nursing Home in Opelousas, Louisiana, at the age of 107 years old. Born on March 18, 1918, in Church Point, Louisiana, she lived a life marked by loving kindness and devotion to her family and faith.
A dedicated homemaker, Marie was renowned for her exceptional cooking skills and her nurturing spirit. She enriched her family's lives with her delicious meals and her warm, inviting home, bringing everyone together around the table as every meal was a celebration of love. Prior to dedicating her life to her family, she worked diligently as a crawfish packaging processor at a local factory in Church Point, showcasing her strong work ethic and commitment to her community.
She was a devoted wife, mother, and sister, exhibiting a nurturing spirit that touched the lives of many. Marie enjoyed various activities that brought her joy, including sewing beautiful quilts. This creative pursuit allowed her to express love and warmth through her craft, gifting her beautiful creations to family and friends who will cherish those memories. Marie was a person of deep faith, a devout Catholic who found solace in prayer. She regularly prayed her rosary and attended Mass, embodying the values that guided her throughout her life.
Funeral Services for Maire Courville will be held on Saturday, October 25, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. in the Skip Montet Memorial Chapel at Lafond Ardoin Funeral Home in Opelousas, LA. Deacon Bill Pollingue will officiate the services. Rite of Committal and interment will be held at the Bellevue Memorial Park in Opelousas.
Visitation for Marie will be held on Saturday, October 25, 2025, in the Skip Montet Memorial Chapel at Lafond-Ardoin Funeral Home of Opelousas beginning at 9:00 a.m. until 10:30 a.m. A Rosary Service will be held on Saturday at 10:30 a.m. and the Eulogy Service will be held at 10:50 a.m. in the funeral home.
Pallbearers will be Ross Courville, Dane Courville, Jacob Neiman, Skip Robinson, Billy Courville, Brandon Bergeron, Jackson Robinson, and Dylan Hout.
Marie's legacy of love and kindness will forever be cherished in the hearts of those who knew her.
Marie is survived by her sons, Shelton Courville and wife, Karen of Tyler, TX; Wayne Courville of Fulshear, TX; five grandchildren: Billy Courville, Dane Courville and wife, Brittany; Ross Courville, Alyce Courville and husband, Jacob “Jake”; and Kelly Courville Robinson and husband, Skip; and 17 great-grandchildren; by her caretaker for 25 years, Lisa Addotto Godeaux of Lafayette; and a host of nieces, nephews, and extended family.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Mayous Courville; infant daughter, Connie Marie Courville; infant son, Linus J. Courville; her mother, Ida Daigle; her father, Edvar Daigle and stepmother, Agath Daigle; brother, Adam Daigle; half-brother, Arrias Daigle; granddaughter, Sharon Kay Bergeron; and daughter-in-law, Donna Addotto Courville.
