It is with deep sadness that the family of Marjorie "Margie" M. Fa-Kouri announces her passing. A loving and beloved daughter, sister, niece, aunt, cousin and deeply valued mentor whose insightful advice and steady guidance forever impacted the lives of those around her.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held for Marjorie “Margie” M. Fa-Kouri on Tuesday, June 23, 2026, at 1:00 p.m. at St. Landry Catholic Church. Monsignor Russell Harrington and The Very Reverend Monsignor Keith J. DeRouen will concelebrate the Mass. Rite of Committal and Burial will be held at Holy Sepulcher Mausoleum.
When we think about Margie, three words immediately come to mind: intelligent, wise and strong. She was a woman of immense substance and many accomplishments, someone who moved through the world with a quiet confidence that naturally drew people to her for guidance.
Nowhere was her strength and brilliance more evident than in her 60-year career at St. Landry Bank. To work at one place for 60 years is a milestone very few people ever achieve. It requires a rare kind of dedication, adaptability and passion. Margie didn't just hold a job - she built a legacy. She was an absolute pillar at her workplace. For 6 decades, until her retirement in 2007, she saw the world change, technology evolve, and generations of colleagues come and go.
Through it all, she remained a constant anchor.
But as remarkable as she was in her professional life, Margie was also the anchor of our family. She poured that same love, dedication and excellence into her relationships with her family. For us, Aunt Margie's wisdom was often paired with her cooking. Family gatherings simply wouldn't be complete without her. She made the absolute best macaroni and cheese, a dish that became a staple of our times together. It wasn't just about the food; it was about the tradition she created around the table. That dish was a reflection of how she cared for us - dependable, comforting, and made with love.
She was held in the highest regard by everyone who worked alongside her. She was the person people went to when they needed a wise perspective, a steady hand, or a smart solution to a difficult problem. Her intelligence was sharp and her wisdom was deep; earned through decades of experience and a lifetime of being a strong, independent woman ahead of her time.
Margie's greatest accomplishment was the impact she had on the people around her. She taught us what true commitment looks like. She showed us that strength is not about being loud, but about being resilient, dependable, and fiercely capable.
Aunt Margie, thank you for your wisdom, your unwavering strength, and the beautiful memories around the kitchen table. We love you; we admire you, and we will carry your memory with us always. Rest in peace.
