Mary Alice Guidroz Aucoin, age 73, passed away peacefully on September 6, 2025. Raised in Arnaudville, Louisiana, Mary was a loving daughter, sister, mother, grandmother, and friend whose kindness touched all who knew her. Her life was deeply rooted in faith and family.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Antoine Octave and Lucille Guidroz; her beloved Godchild and nephew, Christopher Guidroz; and the love of her life, John Earl Aucoin. Mary is survived by her devoted brother Ralph Guidroz and his wife Jeanne; her son, Nick Aucoin, and his wife Christy; her cherished grandsons, John Wesley (Wes) Aucoin and Clayton Renaud; her godchild, Trista Guidroz; and many dear cousins she held close to her heart.
A devout Catholic, Mary faithfully attended Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Church in Opelousas and Our Lady of Fatima in Lafayette, where she found strength and community through her faith.
Mary dedicated over 30 years of her career to the St. Landry Parish School Board. Outside of work, she found joy in life’s simple pleasures—cheering on her LSU Tigers, proudly watching her grandsons’ sporting events, shopping, wrapping and giving thoughtful gifts, and enjoying meals out with family and friends. One of her greatest joys was spending time with her dearest Cecilia High School Class of 1969 classmates during their regular lunches and get-togethers, which always filled her with laughter and fond memories.
Her family extends heartfelt gratitude to the staff of Francois Bend Assisted Living and Clarity Hospice for the compassionate care they provided to Mary.
Mary’s warmth, devotion to faith, and love for her family will be deeply missed but forever remembered.
