Mary Ida Vidrine

Mary Ida Vidrine, affectionately known as Ida, passed away peacefully on Friday, January 30, 2026, at Senior Village Nursing Home in Opelousas, LA, at the age of 89. Born on August 31, 1936, in Ville Platte, Louisiana, Ida lived a life rich with love, family, and cherished memories.

A Memorial Mass for Ida Vidrine will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Wednesday, February 11, 2026, at St. Landry Catholic Church in Opelousas. Father Neil Pettit will celebrate the Mass. Rite of Committal and a Rosary service will be held in the Bellevue Memorial Park in Opelousas.

Ida will be remembered fondly for her cooking and her ritual of enjoying coffee. She found joy in fixing flowers, as well as in the care of her beloved grandchildren.

Ida was a loving mother, grandmother, and sister, providing unwavering support and unconditional love to her family.

She is survived by her son-in-law, James Thibodeaux, and his wife, Pam, of Opelousas; her sisters, Iris Pitre of Opelousas; and Dean Deshotel of Eunice; her four grandchildren, Paul Glen Vidrine II, Corey Lynn Vidrine, James Scott Thibodeaux, and Jeanne Claire Langlinais; and her six great-grandchildren, Hudson Jack Thibodeaux, Tyler Hayes Thibodeaux, Oliver Matthew Langlinais, Emilia Claire Langlinais, Ava Stone Vidrine, Elija Michael Vidrine, and Noah Alexander Vidrine.

Ida was preceded in death by her husband, J.F. Vidrine; her parents, Edgar Paul Vidrine and Oneiza Manuel Vidrine; her son, Paul Glen Vidrine; her daughter, Vicky Lynn Vidrine Thibodeaux; her brother, Howard Vidrine; her sister, Icy Bordelon, and her husband, Euford Bordelon; her sister-in-law, Louise Vidrine; and her brothers-in-law, Raymond Pitre and J.R. Deshotel.

Ida's legacy of love and commitment to her family will continue to echo through the lives she touched. She will be greatly missed, but her spirit will live on in the hearts of all who knew her.
