Mary Spears

Funeral services, for Mary Blanche Powers Spears will be held on Saturday November 28, 2009 at 1:00pm in the Lafond-Ardoin Funeral Home Chapel in Opelousas, followed by the interment at Bellevue Memorial Park. Fr. Paul Bienvenu will conduct the services.

Mrs. Spears, a resident of Opelousas, passed away on November 26, 2009 at 5:50am at Opelousas General Health System. She worked at La Boutique Dress Shop for many years and was also the former Miss Opelousas. She was also a parishioner at Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Church for many years.

Survivors include her husband of 69 years George W. Bill Spears, Sr of Opelousas, a son: George W. Billy Spears, Jr. of Opelousas, a daughter; Beverly Spears Brown and her husband Bob of Lafayette, granddaughter; Kathy Phillips Long and her husband Todd of Gonzales and 2 great granddaughters; Meredith and Marissa Long both of Gonzales.

Mrs. Spears was preceded in death by her father; Eddie Powers, Sr. and her mother; Alzier Moore Powers Tatman, 3 brothers; Joe Powers, Eddie Powers, Jr. and Thomas Powers.

Visitation will be held on Saturday November 28, 2009 at 11:00am until time of services at 1:00pm.
