Due to the Covid 19 mandated gathering restrictions, a private graveside service will be held for Mary Adoin Dupre at Ashford Cemetery in Basile. Deacon Sammy Diesi will conduct the service.
Ms. Dupre, age 97, a resident of Opelousas, passed away on Saturday, May 9, 2020 at Opelousas General Health System.
Mary was a dedicated wife, mother and grandmother. She was a hard worker all her life. Mary could pick 100 pounds of cotton in the morning, cook lunch and then pick another 100 pounds of cotton in the afternoon. She loved baking homemade cakes and sweet dough pies. Mary was a very talented artist and seamstress. She is best known for making a wedding dress and bridal bouquet all in one day. She never used tape measures or patterns for her sewing. She was a lovely and beautiful woman inside and out. Mary will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her.
She is survived by her son, Nelan John Dupre and wife, Cecille; her daughter, Ellawayne Joyce Dupre Brundrett; three grandchildren, David Lafleur, Amy Prestenbach, Johnny Dupre and wife, Adriana; eight great-grandchildren, Carlon Dupre, Ava Prestenbach, Madison Dupre, Isaac Yarbrough, Lane Dupre, Samuel Dupre, Jacob Dupre and Kevin Lafleur.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Hilary Dupre; her parents, Adam and Donatile Roy Ardoin; her daughter, Carrolyn Dupre Arnaud; her brothers, Silven Ardoin, Easton Ardoin, Elwood Ardoin, Gilbert Ardoin; her sister, Pertie Hebert; her son-in-law, Warner Brundrett and her grandchild, Kevin Lafleur.
