Opelousas - A Mass of Christian Burial will be held for Mary "Hazel" Godeaux Carriere at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, April 1, 2022, at Our Lady Queen of Angels Catholic Church in Opelousas, La. The Very Reverend Monsignor Keith J. DeRouen will celebrate the Mass. Rite of Committal will follow at Bellevue Memorial Park. Musical selections will be performed by Bernadine Carrell and Jacob Freyou.
Visitation will be held on Friday, April 1, 2022, from 9:00 a.m. until 1:45 p.m. in the Skip Montet Memorial Chapel at Lafond-Ardoin Funeral Home of Opelousas. A Rosary will be prayed Friday at 1:00 p.m. by Deacon Bill Pollingue.
It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of Mary "Hazel" Godeaux Carriere, age 74, on Wednesday, March 30, 2022, at the Carpenter House in Lafayette, La.
Hazel worked as a bookkeeper for C/C Chemical and Janitorial Service for many years. She loved traveling and going on cruises. She was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother. Hazel will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her.
She is survived by her husband, of 55 years, Bobby "Bob" Carriere, of Opelousas, La.; her son, Marty Blaine Carriere and wife, Rachel, of Opelousas, La. She is also survived by her grandchild, Owen Bourque, of Crowley, La. and her beloved dog and fur baby, Piper.
She was preceded in death by parents, Thomas and Amerite Carriere Godeaux; her brothers, Johnny Godeaux and Morris Godeaux and her sisters, Betty Jane Godeaux Trahan, Eura Guidry, Lee Etta Venable, Helen Cormier and Georgia St. Amand.
